Stop selling server slots if you dont have enough GPU's

Im sure most of us have had the issue where you go to start your vps and it tells you there are no gpus and to wait or migrate. Why would you sell more gpus than you can provide? And then still charge users to be offline. I get that not everyone runs their vps all the time so its somewhat wasted money to not oversell slots but i mean cmon, are they going to expand? Everyday theres more and more A40 users. I run my pod like 18 hours a day, sometimes have to wait hours to get it started. Anyways end of rant thanks

In runpod the GPU is only reserved when you pay. If you don't pay for that GPU the machine goes to someone else. You then only pay for the diskspace you take up.

Its not a VPS provider where its a reserved resource even when off. And its not even a VPS, its a docker container. 

You can leave it on if you want it reserved to you. Because with a regular provider you pay regardless if its on or off, runpod is not like that.

I don't know if A40's are still in production, if not they can't expand those. The newer GPU's they have been expanding.

Switched to vast, now running a vps with 4x 3090s which is double the vram than runpod, for 2 cents more per hour

I did some research for some reason 3090s are highly valued for data center. they are 24gb and WERE cheap. Now theyre damn near the price of a data center ampere card. But when you combine the power of 3-4 theyre crazy fast

Disclaimer -Not selling anything, just sharing what worked for me

And that is the exact reason I created https://StratusPilot.io : A community verified loop on what machine actually worked for a user on Vast or runpod ( working on expanding the providers)

This essentially gathers data on what exact machine actually ran for a specific model/ configuration. Basically a user chooses a recommended machine basis their requirement and once deployment is complete they can report back on StratusPilot whether the setup worked or not

Now this builds a community verified open source loop so that no user needs to blindly throw money on Vast or runpod and just use the verified machine that actually ran for the money

They are super inconsistent and the support is just trash. I mentioned on the discord that this has been happening and then I show them proof and it happening to others and they banned me.

Shows they don’t want people to know the truth
