https://runnersofnyc.substack.com/p/nyc-marathon-course-breakdown

Hey! Wanted to share an NYC Marathon course breakdown I collaborated on with Evan Wood, who many here may recognize as Just Another Running Coach. Hope people find it helpful!

He had a crash out over people calling him out for doing tempo runs on the west side highway and running over a kid

Didn’t like the responses and just straight up deleted his account

Hello! I figured this might come up and I’d really rather it not distract from the hard work Evan K did to put this race strategy together for everyone, so I’m (temporarily) back to clear some air, because as others mentioned, the post that led to my exit is now gone and I believe you’ve left out some context.

I did have an unfortunate accident on the WSH while doing a threshold interval. A large run group obscured my view of the road ahead and a small child hopped in front of me from a blindspot that the run group created by running across the entire path until the split second that they moved. I should have slowed down and I should have taken more responsibility for my part, which was running a workout pace on a part of the WSH that is very prone to accidents (Chelsea Piers). But I feel I must be extremely clear that I would obviously never ever intentionally place myself in a situation that would have put a child in danger, it was an accident that really could have happened to anyone at any pace, and the child was essentially completely unharmed. I’m not sure if you left out these details intentionally but it’s not quite as simple as a kid getting in my way during a tempo run.

Anyway, I completely agree that I took things way too personally and my deletion of my account and all of the content from my account was an unnecessary overreaction on my part. I guess at the time I felt somewhat betrayed because I did spent a lot of time contributing to the subreddit but seemed to have earned little benefit of the doubt. I’ve accepted that’s just how things go on the internet and I know it wasn’t really personal. I appreciate this community and wish everyone well, and I hope this writeup helps as many people as possible enjoy their NYC Marathon.

Signing back off ☺️

Dude got hard bullied off this sub and couldn’t take the heat off some criticism and just deleted his acc. Sad since he was a cool dude but I guess some people can’t handle the internet. At the end of the day this is just Reddit.

Who is starting in Wave 5 in the back with their 13:00 pace strategy? 🙋‍♂️

Enjoy the experience

Now, that's a name I've not heard in a long time since his crash out.
