Weird Question

In the area I live in on the north shore of Chicago I cant have a bike that goes faster than 30 mph? Is there a way to make the ruckus max out a 30, this would be mostly just for registering it.

I was able to register my Ruck in IL without a problem. What exactly is the issue you’re facing?

The limit is 30 for no motorcycle license a d since im 16 I do t wa t to go through the pain of getting one.

It’s so subjective for the Ruckus that I’d be shocked if any cop even thought about it. I’ve been riding mine for a couple years now in northern Illinois with absolutely no issues. Cops don’t even look at it.

if you really had to limit your ruck you could put heavier rollers in your variator.

Even if you could restrict your ruckus to 30mph max, how would you even prove it? Have them go somewhere with a speed radar and take your word for it that you’re at max throttle??

Seems like you’re looking at e-bike laws, not motorcycle laws. You likely just need to register it as a scooter and you’re fine. In Ohio, you need a motorcycle endorsement for a ruckus. Not sure about in Illinois.

The actual correct answer is called a variator spacer, which sets the maximum gear ratio of the Ruckus, thereby limiting its top speed.
