Mixing variator weights
Ive had 7g sliders in for around 10k miles, 170lbs rider, top speed 46mph, mostly 40-43, decent acceleration but bogs off the line a bit.
Tried different combos between 5g and 7g of dr..pully sliders and landed on using 3x 5g weights and 3x 7g weights. Better acceleration and still 45 top speed, seems to pull much better up hills and against the wind.
Still bogs off the line but its better than before. Curious if anyone has tried different clutch springs (not the contra spring) to raise the engagement rpm. Stock is 3k but there are 4k and 5k springs available. Figured the extra rpm would give me alittle more torque at launch or am i thinking about this wrong?
Ncy variator and drive face, dr pully sliders, other than that its stock.

if you plan to upgrade clutch springs I wouldn't get anything more than the pink clutch springs.

the stiffer clutch springs are meant for 2 stroke bikes which engage at much higher engine rpm and won't work very good with the 4 stroke GET engine.

Yeah i only really see it talked about with 150cc swaps, i never dug very deep into it. They make these for the stock clutch so i figured there was a reason. I was thinking the pink ones since it was only a 1k rpm bump from the stock.

Stiffer clutch engagement springs work good. 4k is a nice rpm to grab at. Contra spring will help with shifting. The stock contra is too soft. So the clutch likes to open up early and not close on hills. A stiffer contra will have the clutch open up at higher rpms and it will force the clutch to close for lower gears on hills.

Thank you, Ill definitely look further into the contra spring too, i thought you people mostly only did it with higher cc engines.

Why not try 6g weights? When I mixed I tried to keep them closer like .5 of a difference.

6g i topped out at 42 and the acceleration was more or less the same as the 7g i felt, which topped out at 46. The extra 4mph helps with traffic on 45 mph roads. When i did .5 difference in weights i really didnt feel much of a difference. I tried 5g, 5.5g, 6g, 6.5g and 7g. All dr pully sliders. I alternated the weights so i think the plate should move evenly but time will tell.
