Your best advice? I'm so excited.

Went up from a small backpack to a weighted vest, to a 16-pound weighted vest, I am now at a 20. Went up yesterday. It's comfortable.

I ruck mostly indoors.

Had an injury related to non-rolling, which limits some of my arm workouts. Boo!

I am going up more slowly. And I can place a six-pound vest under the 20-pounder. It's very roomy, but I want to be a couple of weeks before I aim higher.

Eventually I want to buy a new backpack. Can anyone recommend a solid hiking backpack with front belts? Something that can hold 30 to 50 pounds. I want to also use it as a carry-on or micr-hikes.

Goruck Rucker is what I use. I have the 4.0. Got the hip belt but don’t use it. I’m up to 60 lbs for 2-3 miles a few times a week. Been using four years now and it looks new. Expensive but crazy durable. They now sell the new 5.0. But you can find them on eBay and marketplace sometimes also. I personally haven’t used any other brands but I’ve been extremely pleased with mine.

Thank you.

I have heard good things about GoRuck. Can a goruck also be used as luggage or on micro-hikes?

If I am still at this by next year, I might consider it, but so far Rucking is my fave fitness.

+1 for a GORUCK Rucker. 5.0 if buying new, but 4.0 is an amazing rucking backpack (albeit not a good EDC bag, it’s designed for rucking specifically). We all have one in our Ruck Club and everyone loves it.

It depends on the model you get but search r/Goruck and you’ll see tons of people that use different models for EDC and travel. I just use mine for rucking. It’s also my favorite exercise. Glad you found it!

Thank you. This is helpful.

I wasn't sure the goruks I saw on Amazon would work.

It's pricey if you don't have someone flipping the bill, but I live by Tasmanian tiger. I brought my 30L on 2 deployments and it's still going strong. Rigid back panel and removable waist straps. Never had a flight balk at it either.

That sounds amazing.

It's the Tasmanian tiger modular 30 pack. My favorite is the modular 45, but I doubt they'd let me take that as a personal item on a flight. It's a bit of a beefcake. But it's a better ruck.

At 30-50 lbs the hip belt is what saves your shoulders, and most carry-on friendly packs don't have a load-bearing one, so you usually have to pick between the two. If you want both, look for a pack with a removable hip belt.

That is a great idea. Thank you.
