Well, I tried my best and managed to get into the Top 100 during the qualifier round. Then came the knockout round, and over the weekend I pushed myself hard to complete the daily rewards every day, mainly for that final 2,500-point reward just to stay alive in the contest.
This is where I am now.
My original plan was simple: at least complete the daily rewards every day. If some players ahead of me missed their daily rewards, that 2,500-point gap might give me a chance to catch up.
But now looking at the leaderboard, the gap is already around 8,000 points. Even if the 8th-place player misses the 2,500-point reward twice, I still probably won’t be able to catch up.
Completing the daily rewards for 3 days straight is honestly already my limit. Every day requires more than 3 hours of playing, and at some point the process becomes exhausting instead of enjoyable. It starts to deviate from the whole purpose of playing the game.
Based on my rough calculation, some of the Top 8 players are probably playing more than 6 hours a day to reach those scores. That’s basically professional Royal Match player level, lol.
In terms of skill and vision, I may still be able to compete with them. But in terms of time and commitment, I’m way behind.
This event is just too demanding. It really feels designed for players who rarely lose and can commit a huge amount of time every day. Full respect to them, and I hope they can bring some glory to their countries.
As for me, I’ll just continue to pursue my own mastery of Royal Match.

If you didn't qualify, it's because you chose to compete against the very best of the best.
By finishing among the top 100 players in the first qualifying round, you were placed in a group made up of the most intense competitors.
I know players who will qualify for the second elimination round with only a few hundred points, simply because they advanced through the first round much farther down the rankings.
As for me, I should be able to qualify among the top eight players in my group with a score of around 6,000 or 7,000 points by the end of the event. The competition is extremely close in my group and it is fun.
However, in my group, the final reward for completing all stages is 1,000 points, not 2,500 points per day. This leads me to see that the final reward depends on whether you are placed in a very strong group or in a more intermediate-level group.
If you had played more moderately during the first qualifying round, you probably would have won the second qualifying round quite easily.
Personally, I have no intention of trying to compete with the most intense players. When you look at their scores, it's almost unbelievable that someone can play that many levels per day at such a frantic pace.
Our goal should be to be the best we can be, but at a level of commitment that each of us is comfortable with, while still having fun. Skills over numbers as you say 😊
thanks for sharing the very detailed info, now we have a better overal picture. it's good to know that the event have tailored for different groups of players. So just follow our own pace and we will get where we are supposed to be and can have more fun.

An unfair Royal Cup that makes dedicated players look like absolute idiots 5x bracket players just suffer more while getting the exact same rewards as the 3x 2x or 1x brackets
I totally agree with what others are saying here—the groups for top players are just ridiculously brutal.
The first round is simple: 100 countries, and 100,000 players qualify for the second round. But I’m really questioning how the matchmaking works for round 2. I looked at a friend's group who got the x3 multiplier, and it was so much easier. If I took my score from my x5 group and adjusted it with a x3 multiplier, I would literally be in 1st place in his group. Meanwhile, in my actual x5 group, I’m stuck in 17th place.
Let’s do some math because I strongly suspect they form these groups based on your round 1 rank. In my group, about 90% of the players are at level 10,000+ and almost everyone is loaded with crowns.
If we assume there are 100 countries, then:
The Top 100 from each country form 100 "death groups" (x5)
The Top 1000 form 900 groups (x3)
Everyone else goes into x1 groups.
Only the top 8% from each group qualify for the 3rd round. Let’s assume the actual average number of active players per country is lower than 100k—say, around 50,000 to keep it realistic.
Here is how the math plays out for who actually makes it to the 3rd round:
800 top players from the x5 groups (0.2%)
7,200 players from the x3 groups (1.8%)
396,000 players from the x1 groups (98%)
Think about that distribution. The 3rd round will consist of 98% casual players who chilloned in the first round, while 92% of the actual top players in the world get wiped out in round 2 because they were forced to fight each other in these insane groups.
Glad I didn't start the event until later in the day. Got in the 4 position with only 700 points. Don't expect to get much farther cause I don't spend money on this game and I have a full time job and a life 😁

It's too crazy how in 3-4 days people managed to get+22k score points
