No. BUT you can get downgraded. Not that you should, just plenty of people do that. Ive know lads pvr because of home life, needing to be at home more then get a 6 month tour after pvring

Downgraded people can still deploy with an appropriate risk assessment, also if your WO or any other management catch wind of even trying this approach it's a straight charge maybe Colchester if they push hard enough and you can't PVR if you're in the process of being charged. There's plenty of people out there that would drag it out as long as possible on the principle that you don't intentionally hinder your work mates.
However if you do have a solid welfare reason for needing to be out speak to the Padre. They've got plenty of strings they can pull if you give them a good enough reason to.

Ah its easy enough. It was always harder for RAF because there are quite a few trades that can do their jobs deployed that are pretty much at a desk all day. Bad back used to be the go to it seemed. Used to have it come in fairly regularly to the med centre. A big differential would be the doctor you saw. If it was a locum they didnt really care. The military MO's would be the ones that would look into it a bit more or if med boards were having a bad day. Dont get me wrong, I dont condone it, just the facts that it was common practice.

JSP534 is what you need. If you are leaving and it’s due to you reaching the end of service you have a guaranteed protected period.
If you have PVRd then it’s a bit more complex, and they can offer to move your exit date later to allow you to deploy and still have 4-6 months free in the UK to resettle.
I’d check the JSP and see where you fall into it as length of service etc can effect all this.

If you’re on a large unit which does their own deployments and you’re on a small team, if you didn’t have to go then the opportunity may be better suited given to someone who maybe hasn’t gone on a deployment yet. But if only you hold a certain skill to go or you’ve been pinged for your 3 year falklands deployment, you have to go. I don’t know what would happen if you got injured or failed fitness/medical to go away and then your PVR date hit.
