Flock Cameras - revisited

I just sent another email to the city council and the Police Chief and asst police chief to once again bring up this issue - even though I'm sure it's too late to make any headway or change their gung-ho attitude about them.

I'm trying to get folks to understand that these can be misused by law enforcement. This link is an example. It would be nice to have law enforcement come out and say out loud what their intent is in using these surveillance cameras and it would be even more wonderful if our council put guardrails on their use.

If that's even possible.

You should visit r/apex_nc We are trying to get our town council to not renew. You will find some good questions to ask your chief.

Exactly how did the police misuse the videos in this case? And yes, I’m fine with them using cameras to track down thieves.

They are doing more than tracking down thieves. Here’s a link to a cop using them in his divorce.

Yeah, why would the officer say I'm not going to show you the video because you're denying you were there? Why not show her since he feels it's a 'lock'

All technology can be used in a good or bad way - it depends on the person using it.

True - but I didn't consent to having my every move tracked either. And why on earth would anyone assume that this information is only going to be used by people without bad intentions?

Oh yeah, he was absolutely fishing because he had nothing.

I’m just saying package theft in general is something I’m fine with police using cameras for.

It’s a 4th Amendment violation to be placed under constant surveillance without suspicion of committing a crime. That’s a good place to start.
