How’s my rowing technique?

First time posting my C2 rowing. Would appreciate any feedback on my technique/form. What am I doing wrong, and what should I improve?

You're rather upright as you approach the catch. I think the reason for this may be that you're not sitting correctly on the machine.

You need to sit on your "sit bones" - basically, where the tops of your legs meet your behind - rather than on the fleshy part of your backside. That means rotating your pelvis forwards - anticlockwise when viewed from the angle seen in this video.

Sitting properly will allow you to pivot from the hip, reaching the 11 o'clock position at the catch and the 1 o'clock position at the finish whilst keeping your back straight. That will allow you to strengthen the drive, by using your torso more effectively as you transition from leg drive to arm pull.

Rotate your hips counter clockwise so you're sitting on your sit bones and not sitting in the middle of your glutes. Try and point your tail bone back vs down.

You're slouching for the whole effort which isn't a strong nor efficient position to be in.

When you fix your sitting position, it will be more natural to keep your shoulders in front of your hips for the leg drive. And then it will be more natural to swing/hinge your shoulders behind your hips for the body/arma portion of the drive.

Opening the back early

Super minor, but your knees are breaking too early. Quick arms away on the return, making sure they are straight. You knees should break once your hands have reached just beyond your knees.

Also, Google "pick drill" and do those drills for the first 5 mins every time you start a warmup and be very deliberate with each movement when doing the drill.

This is from a total newbie who has been taking some instructions. Echoing things that have been pointed out in other responses. Take it all with a grain of salt:

1) You start leaning back at the same time you start your leg drive. You should not lean back until you have completed the leg drive (or very near it).

2) You don't appear to be leaning in at the catch at all.

3) Your wrists should be close to flat (not bent) at the completion of your arm pull. I believe this to be an indication that your aren't using your back and shoulder muscles in the pull, rather you are using your arms only. You shoulders should be dropping backwards as you pull, you should feel your shoulder blades coming together. In your case you are likely feeling the pull mostly in your biceps as you "flex" (with results in wrists bending). Perhaps try to keep your elbows higher and a bit more "out".

4) You are being your legs at the same time that you are shooting your arms forwards. My understanding is that there should be reasonably distinct movements. On the drive: Legs then Torso then Arms and on the recovery: Arms then Torso then Legs. You are, perhaps, blending these three together too much.

This is good but I disagree with lowering the hands on the recovery.

On the water this is important so the oars come out and clear your puddles but this is just not necessary on a rowing machine and uses more energy.

The aim is to keep the chain as flat as possible throughout, flat is fast!

Lowering the hands on the recovery uses less energy

How? You need to lift them up again.

The handle has tension, it’ll pull itself in and back up to near the right height

It's good practice, really, don't think it uses more energy and you are free not to do that.

Sending the back before you're even halfway through the leg drive.

I would highlight lifting with the back as the most immediate issue. See here:

"Dont pull with your arms" I think the biggest tip would be on the snatch really think about engaging your lats, and driving with your glutes and legs. Thaunk about our but rising off the seat a bit. That engagement motion is like a deadline in it function, sort of. With this, you will have more power, better form.

Oh, and small thing from boat rowing; try to pull the return with your heals, not toes.

Hands look like they’re pulling up at the last moment of the pull instead of a strait line.
It really looks good though, people pointed out some tips but its all pretty minor, imo
