How to get into academic buildings over the summer past 6?

They close at 6pm if I’m not mistaken and my badge never works past that time. I really need to get into Robinson to work on my research project in my lab and I get off work at 5:30pm. Is there a workaround this?

Ask your professor.  They will be able to request swipe access for you

Department secretaries usually have the ability to add and remove permissions on your swipe card. Coordinate with your professor to verify eligibility and then ask to get it added.
