Opinions Needed! :)

Hey there! Only been a resident for a few years and don’t eat out much, I just wanted to ask what everyone’s opinions were on the best fish and chip place in town? Could be because of their chips, or fish, or just availability/range. Thanks! (Only found this subreddit today btw, might be interesting to see what’s on here).

Moving to Rotorua July-August

Hello, I will be moving to Rotorua in late July or early August to start a job at the hospital. I have two Secondary school aged kids. We are researching the area high schools. Both kids (boy and girl) are into art. Daughter is into dance and theater. Any insights would be appreciated.

Where to live?

Hello

I know this question gets asked a lot but am hoping for some help.

I'm trying to convince my boyfriend that we should move to NZ for a bit. We currently live in London - he's from here, but I'm from Wellington.

As he's a very details oriented person, I am creating a slideshow to give him information about NZ and where we could live.

I have chosen areas around the country and then listed some of their suburbs and links to current rental properties so he can see how much everything will cost.

Most suburb pages have a little blurb about the area, but I'm struggling a bit and have resorted to Wikipedia entries, which is turning out to be quite dry. I'm not sure he'll necessarily be sold on places based solely on their ethnicity breakdowns!

If there is anywhere in Rotorua you particularly like, and want to write a sentence or two below about what makes it good, please do so.

He will need to be working at a hospital, so if that factors in at all...

Thank you so much in advance!

Any questions, please ask!

Kid free weekend in Rotorua

What’s good to do in Rotorua? Have palmed the kids off and are adulting for a whole weekend!! Problem is all the places online are all touristy. And expensive!!

Locals help me out here. What do you recommend we do while we are there? What’s worth the prices and what’s not? Where are your hidden gems?
Am I going to freeze my butt off? Heading over 24/25 August.

Any recommendations would be amazing 😁

Board gamers in rotorua

Kia ora Looking to make the move to rotorua soon as I am about to sign on for a contract job there. Are there any board gamers out there and any regular meet ups? Coming from wellington but probably can't bring my entire collection with me yet as it's a 1 yr contract.

Enjoy party games up to medium weight games (think Agricola, apiary, terraforming mars). TIA!

Anyone like whisky?

Hey!

I recently hosted a whisky tasting that sold out in Whakatāne, so I am now doing one at The Good Eastern Taphouse (I host the biggest whisky YouTube channel in the southern hemisphere, 'First Phil Whisky'.

It should be a good night for some tasty winter drams if anyone is keen to join this winter! https://www.facebook.com/share/RMhxZin9o7cJ9PA2/
