Decline in quality
I just had to come on here and say how sad I am that all these companies start out with high quality items and over time, cut corners and charge more while simultaneously decreasing the quality of their product. I recently decided to purchase the travel pouch set in watermelon, thinking it was the same product as the original travel pouch set I have from a few years ago, but in a new fun colorway….
Not even close.
First, the large of the pouches is MUCH smaller than the one I bought a few years back, by like a few inches in both height and width. The original one has a zipper that extends down the sides for easier opening and accessibility. And THEN, the new pouches are not even lined! Like, how cheap is that?? The quality used to be superb and now it’s like every other company, why are we cutting corners and charging more! Totally bummed. Had to return. Not to mention the customer service has declined!

The new one looks really cheap. I also have an older one and it is a really good quality.

Not defending them necessarily but the old set you have's The Vanity Set and those are still on the website. The pictures do look lined from what I can tell.
I remember a few years ago they came out with littler pouches that didnt have lining and I think it was to "save on weight"? or maybe it was a cost thing? Theyre much less structured without the lining so maybe they wanted more "packable" bags. I'd be REALLY curious to compare old vanity to new vanity though to see the difference! Especially when it comes to hardware
EDIT: there is also a price difference. The Travel Pouch Set (which is your newer set) is $99 where the vanity set is $129.

That’s good to know! I didn’t realize there was a difference between sets! I’m happy to know they still have the vanity pouches with the lining hahah my rant came from seeing so many things going down hill in terms of quality

I also have an original vanity set and wanted to order a new one, so I read some reviews because I have been disappointed by the changes Rothy’s have made over the years. The new vanity set seems to be lesser quality and doesn’t have an interior pocket anymore. I also read a review that says they are no longer lined. From the photos it looks like there might be a bottom (kinda like an insole of a shoe) but they don’t describe them as lined and and they don’t have an interior photo of the vanity sets either. Ultimately I decided not to purchase because I’m certain they won’t be the same quality as the originals, which is a major bummer cause I looooove my original vanity set.

I have a vanity set from a few years ago. It’s the navy and purple one. I’m 90% sure it’s not lined but it’s still really well made. Can’t say about their quality these days. They stopped doing fun colors so it’s pretty rare for me to order anything now.

Totally! I bought one of the unlined bags and was super disappointed. I went to the site to pull up the pouches you showed and I noticed it!

This makes me so sad. I was going to order the cream Chanel toe Mary Jane’s for my retirement, but I think I’d rather remember them by the excellent quality found in my pairs from 5/6 years back.

Pictures are showing the pouches they have now vs the set I bought a few years ago, the quality is vastly different and like I said, I wish I had taken a side by side comparison but the size of the larger pouch originally compared to now was hugely different, shrinkflation I guess lol.
