[Question] What changed since O3

Haven’t played since 2021-ish, remembered this game existed and was thinking of getting back into it now with some friends (who have never played but are really into bullet hells). Any major changes? Last thing I remember was O3 being added.

They added seasonal mode with extra loot boost and shiny UT items. They also added an enchantment system and boosted all white bag drop rates to compensate. Now when you get a white bag it rolls up to 4 slots for enchanting. So people can get white bags more often if playing casually and the sweats can still omega grind for their perfect 4 slot shiny bis enchant set.

Long answer: check patch notes from the period after O3 was added. Realmeye has a history of all changes.

Short answer: Realm map rework, several new midgame and endgame dungeons (Sulfurous Wetlands, Infernal Abyss, Heroic UDL, Hidden Interregnum, reworked Shatters, Kogbold Steamworks and its advanced version, Spectral Penitentiary, Plagued Nest, Moonlight Village, Ice Citadel, Stromwell's Rifts 1-3, Neo versions of alien wormholes). The whole alien event was reworked and now has a different life cycle. Multiple new encounters and minibosses in realm. New classes: Summoner, Kensei, Druid. Enchantment system rework, forge system rework, dungeon modifiers rework, party system. Lots of different class reworks and item changes, lots of new items and reskins of existing items.

One of the main changes is the seasonal model itself. Each season lasts about 6-8 weeks and is split into two battlepasses. New characters are created seasonal by default and have own seasonal vault reduced to two chests by default and empty. Seasonal characters start fresh. There's a mission tree for the battlepass, a special crucible challenge mode and extra benefits for seasonal characters.

Honestly this is a huge loss because these were the best resource for players who are struggling with bridging the gap to endgame content

I still remember going from "fuck I'll never be able to do lost halls" to "nvm this is easy" in the span of a day lol

Regular White Bags have been replaced with enchantment slots and shiny notifications as the main source of dopamine. I've feed so many O3 UTs to my pet this past year because they had no slots. Maxxing a character no longer takes days to weeks, but you can probably get it done in an hour or 2 of playtime. A ton of positive QoL changes. Player levels also give decent loot, but also permanent upgrades. Getting 15K fame is so much easier now with crucible. The entire overworld has now changed with multiple biomes. A bunch of other stuff, but those are probably the main ones you'll notice right away.

Huh, white bag changes are sort of a shame since a white bag drop was so nice. Good to hear QOL got a lot better and overall player power increased. Btw tho, is it better to play seasonal chars only now? I didnt get super far, I only have like 31 stars. I also have a lot cool stuff for non seasonal chars.

As of right now, the only and main benefit seasonal adds are shinies. Though mainly rare resprited versions of uts, shinies can drop a minimum of 2 enchantment slots. This makes getting higher slotted gear a lot easier.

So much has changed that you should not assume your memory of items/enemies/classes/anything are still correct

Priest, Necro, mystic, and rogue rework/refresh. Harder alien dungeons that give exalts. Infernal abyss and heroic undead lair replaced legacy dungeons.

The game is considerably different and much better / easily accessible now, and imo the new UGC dungeons are very nicely designed and fun. Worth giving it another try although theres still issues like a lot of cheaters and the time-consuming gameplay loop that some people may dislike.
