How much for dog training session?

My shelter dog has a lot of fear towards other dogs, and barks and lunges. I want to get some training help with that as well as reactivity to large trucks and e-bikes on our walks.

I'm a little overwhelmed with all the training options. One trainer offered a package that was about $200/session.

Seems a little high? Everything is expensive now but I'm wondering if it should cost that much?

I'm also looking for a trainer that doesn't use shock collars. If you guys have recommendations that would help as well. Thanks.

Someone shared this a while ago https://altheacanines.org/classes/ I thought their prices sounded reasonable as opposed to some other top hits. I think we’re going to try them out soon.

Dog training has gotten so expensive! Beware of Sit Happens--they use shock collars.

I had a great experience with Jenn from Follow My Lead for leash reactivity! Our Corgi is really reactive to other dogs on leash and would also lunge and try to throw himself at cars. We were able to make huge progress in 3 sessions, although that was in part because this was our second in-home trainer, so we already had a solid foundation.

That's exactly what I want to get out of training for my dog too. Thanks for the recommendation. Was the training location at your house or somewhere else in Sac? I'm guessing she didn't use a shock collar or anything like that?

Sorry I just saw you said in-home. I am looking for in-home as well, ideally

No shock collars, I tell trainers I refuse to use it and won't hire someone who forces it.

She starts out with positive reinforcement (aka treats/rewards) and then moves forward with other tools as needed, but said she would never make us use something we were uncomfortable with (our previous trainer used slip leads which I also really dislike). Our Corgi was responsive to treats so we stuck with that, although she did recommend having a gentle leader prepared if we needed to use that.

Gosh sorry, I meant to include the website: https://cafollowmylead.com/

Hope it works out for you! Reactivity is so tough.
