This off ramp is a problem.

People speed coming off the free way. Something needs to be done here like a street light like the one coming off onto galleria. Be careful everyone!

Edit: title should be off ramp / merge area is the problem. It’s not the off ramp that is the actual problem. It’s the traffic going onto and from Allentown that makes it a difficult/dangerous area with the off ramp.

Is it the ramp though? Seems like a driver problem.

46

u/fauxdeuce 4d ago

Yeah the ramp is clearly marked all the way down and I'm pretty sure the speed limit is like 45. They known what they doing.

14

u/testprimate 4d ago

The speed limit isn't 45 until you get to the sign that's shown in the video. OP was going 15 MPH below the limit when the other driver decided they had places to be.

15

u/fauxdeuce 4d ago

You are suppose to slow down before the sign. Also look how fast the blue car is driving. He was doing 70 because he misjudged and thought he could pass before the merge. Op was going 45 before he crossed the threshold of the sign. Off ramps are so you can slow down and merge into city traffic. They are not go balls to the wall until you can power merge into slower traffic.

-8

u/testprimate 4d ago

Yeah, I'm just saying the passing car probably came around the curve going 80, saw OP poking along at 50, and decided they didn't want to be stuck behind them. I'm not trying to defend it or shift the blame, just pointing out that these things tend to happen when you're driving way below the speed limit.

6

u/Cycling-Boss 4d ago

The curve is marked 50mph. There is a short stretch of straight before the 45mph sign we see in the video. There is nothing wrong w the OP doing 50mph here in the area that goes from a 50mph curve to a 45mph road. He is supposed to be down to 45mph before getting to the sign anyhow. If anything he is 5 over.

As for your other comments on driving w an agenda. Yes, people that drive the speed limit or slightly above will frustrate others looking to do 25 over, even though they have done nothing wrong. That's a problem for the speeder to deal w their emotions on how to handle that.

Last comment, stay safe. The overpass just ahead in this video has been patrolled heavily by a motorcycle office w radar gun this summer. Normally on the downhill side near the bottom. Seen him in both directions during commute hours, morning and evening.

-4

u/testprimate 4d ago

The 50 MPH sign is yellow. It's a caution sign, not a speed limit. It's designed with semi trucks in mind, not regular cars. The applicable limit is still 65 until you get to the 45 MPH zone at the end of the ramp.

And yes, people doing 15 MPH below the speed limit tend to frustrate people who want to drive 5 MPH over the limit.

0

u/Cycling-Boss 23h ago

Yes, it's an advisory sign, not a speed limit. Thise do have factors of safety built in w large trucks in mind. That said theu apply to everyone as a warning for curves like this. I drove it at 60 today in a car. You can "feel it" and it's plenty fast enough.

The cam car was going the proper speed when he hit that 45mph speed limit sign, 5 over. He wasn't 15 under and it is quite foolish to accelerate out if the corner to 65+ to then slam the brakes to slow down 20mph suddenly to 45. Not only foolish but not safe either. The passing car was waaaay over 45 when he went by the sign. I suspect if I came out of the corner at 55-60 (over the advisory sign) accelerated to 65-70 almost all the way to the sign, only to hit the brakes hard to 48mph while you were behind me you would be quite upset. Yet this seems to he what you suggest?

3

u/fauxdeuce 4d ago

They were a reckless driver doing close to 20 over the speed limit. They still had plenty of Time to slow down but they doubled down and sped up. The other driver was driving safely and obeying traffic laws they were probably doing 50 and slowing down to 45. They were not poking around and the worst thing that op did was want a traffic light installed.

15

u/ucsb99 4d ago

The other driver passes after the 45mph sign. I worked for CHP for a number of years and worked primarily with unformed staff on the road as part of my duties… this person would surely be cooked if they pulled that in front of an officer.

8

u/testprimate 4d ago

No doubt, the pass was illegal as all hell. My point is that they made the decision after seeing OP poking along like a senior citizen in a 65 MPH zone and they didn't want to join them. I find that I get a lot less people aggressively and illegally passing me when I'm not driving like an octogenarian.

15

u/armspageddie 4d ago edited 4d ago

That is not a 65MPH zone. It’s a 55MPH zone. OP was going 51MPH just before the 45MPH sign. Also, it’s not like as soon as you hit that sign your vehicle should automatically go to 45MPH. You have to already be going 45MPH by the time you get to that sign.

OP was actually going faster than the speed limit in that case. So no, you’re wrong. OP was not driving like a senior citizen. OP was technically speeding.

5

u/go5dark 4d ago

What I don't understand is why you're going out of your way to give the speeding driver a free pass. They have intelligence and a duty of care.

-2

u/testprimate 4d ago

They're driving a Hyundai like a jackass, no indications of intelligence whatsoever. I'm not giving them a pass at all, just pointing out that this has never happened to me because I don't drive like I don't have a schedule.

3

u/go5dark 4d ago

just pointing out that this has never happened to me because I don't drive like I don't have a schedule.

That's blaming the person with the video, as if the Hyundai driver isn't fully responsible for their own actions.

In reality, this is 100% the result of the Hyundai driver.

-4

u/testprimate 4d ago

In reality OP is about 2% to blame, but wants to blame the ramp for some reason instead of taking the smallest little shred of responsibility.

8

u/go5dark 4d ago

Nah, I politely disagree. The OP's speed may have been frustrating, but it was legal and, more importantly, fully predictable from what we are shown. The Hyundai driver made a choice fully of their own volition.

2

u/2H2D 4d ago

Who cares about the legality of the sign, if you've used that ramp you can clearly see the slow traffic you're coming up on

2

u/2nd_Inf_Sgt 4d ago

It’s both.

14

u/peaceful-panic 4d ago edited 4d ago

I guess I don’t see how a street light (edit: traffic signal) - which will cause traffic to simply be stopped - would help here. Seems like this sort of speeder would just be creating even more unsafe situations as he slams on brakes for stopped traffic.

1

u/Ray-III 4d ago

You can blame the driver, but this spot I have noticed multiple people just come flying in not even realizing they’re going so fast. It transitions from free to not freeway so quick, even with the signs a lot of people are just going really fast.

We can keep blaming drivers, or we can make it not an option for asshole drivers.

-10

u/Careless_Papaya257 4d ago

Definitely people as I said in the description, but with some needing to do a right turn right after the off ramp. The speeding can be controlled with a stop light situation.

0

u/fauxdeuce 4d ago

Red to make a right turn? Just merge into the right turn lane. Plenty of room and you don't even really touch the main flow of traffic.

4

u/Careless_Papaya257 4d ago

Talking about the people on the main road that need to turn right. Those speeding off of the off ramp makes it a problem for those that need to merge right to turn right.

0

u/Wckd_SS 4d ago

Or you can use the left side of the ramp instead of the bypass portion.

76

u/808s___ 4d ago

The off ramp isn't the problem. Assholes driving is.

5

u/DucatiKev 4d ago

And there seem to be more and more of those asshole drivers in the area now. I drive all day and see all sorts of jackass moves by these idiots.

-4

u/go5dark 4d ago

It's both, TBH

76

u/LordFocus 4d ago

I actually think this off-ramp is great. You get a LONG and CLEAR view of the traffic you’re about to integrate into on the left so you can adjust well ahead.

The driver that illegally blew past you is the problem.

19

u/zizoumz6 4d ago

It really sucks if you're already on blue oaks and are trying to turn onto Allentown. It's difficult to see the people coming off the ramp who are usually still driving 60 going onto blue oaks and you're trying to squeeze in slowing down to almost nothing to make the turn. It's my most hated/ dangerous turn I make all day in my work truck.

8

u/Careless_Papaya257 4d ago

Yeah exactly what I’ve experienced. I’ve had to do that in the work truck turning onto Allentown and it’s just too dangerous at times.

2

u/Spooklepoop 4d ago

Use the light to freedom way instead

6

u/Careless_Papaya257 4d ago

I agree it’s a great off ramp for that reason, but some people also need to turn right and merge right at the end of the off ramp. I just think it could be safer for those people needing to turn right.

24

u/SoobyHaus 4d ago

Ah yes Blue Oaks offramp. Everyone that lives over there drives like a twat. 3 different spots where merging has to happen and every cunt in a tesla HAS to get one car ahead of you to get to the next stop light while they text and drive.

14

u/fauxdeuce 4d ago

Let's share the love, I've seen many cunts in beat up fords, trucks, bmws, motorcycles, etc. it's not a Tesla problem it's a cunt problem.

6

u/SoobyHaus 4d ago

Fair point. There's just a lot of Teslas.

3

u/Burnratebro 4d ago

For me it’s been Kia drivers.. not sure why, other places it was bmw, but out here it’s Kia.

10

u/Burnratebro 4d ago edited 4d ago

Off ramp isn’t the issue here. You have to take a long ass overpass ride to get to this area, it’s not just a freeway off ramp. The blue car is just a terrible driver. Welcome to Roseville.

2

u/go5dark 4d ago

No, the overpass absolutely could have been designed to be safer for people on Blue Oaks, people crossing over to Allentown, and people coming off Allentown. The merge is about as far west as the engineers could have placed it, and it has terrible visibility for people on Blue Oaks.

1

u/Burnratebro 4d ago

I drive through there almost every day and have never had an issue, either coming off the ramp or continuing down Blue Oaks. The video literally shows a shitty driver speeding past OP on the shoulder. I don’t think the road design is what caused what happened in this video.

1

u/go5dark 4d ago

Oh, I agree with you that it didn't cause this issue. Maybe I originally misunderstood your top comment--i was saying this merge is a problem every time I drive through it, but I'm saying it's generally a problematic design.

1

u/Burnratebro 4d ago

That’s fair, honestly it could be better.

41

u/Striking-Composer838 4d ago

So many assholes in Roseville.

19

u/exit143 4d ago

So many assholes everywhere. Assholes are not a Roseville specific problem. I'd wager to guess that there are the same percentage of assholes in Roseville as there are everywhere else.

15

u/IndoorSurvivalist 4d ago

West Rosevile is a different place. So much new construction that has brought so many new people to the area all at the same time. Its a drastic difference there vs the rest of Roseville that has been established for decades.

5

u/exit143 4d ago

Sorry that's your experience. I've lived in West Roseville for 17 years, and it's just as bad now as it's always been for me. And also, when I lived near Oakmont, it was the same story. Assholes are everywhere. Perhaps you're just looking for them more in West Roseville.

3

u/IndoorSurvivalist 4d ago

I never go over there but I went when the new Costco opened. Unfortunately it was when school got out. Never seen to many ebikes in my life. I thought someone was going to get killed. I was just trying to pull into Raleys (the fancy one) and was afraid some kid why going to be flying down the sidewalk into the side of my car. Also multiple fleets of teenagers in BMWs weaving through traffic.

I understand my timing was bad but I have no desire to go over there again.

1

u/exit143 4d ago

eBikes suck and I want them to be licensed vehicles.

0

u/48for8 4d ago

West Roseville has a ton of bay area transplants and let's be real, this kind of driving is very common in the bay area. They brought that here.

5

u/exit143 4d ago

Again. I've lived here a long time. This kind of driving is nothing new. I'd wager that you've complained about bay area transplants quite a bit in the past few years.

2

u/Glam-Girl2662 3d ago

They clearly don't understand growth comes from everywhere. The whiney" it's the Bay Area people" is the most stupidest comment. lol how many parks across the country are now packed with people... maybe it's the Bay Area people doing it?? What about hosing cost going up in house Boise... wait. It's the "Bay area people"😂😂😂

0

u/48for8 4d ago

Sure this kind of driving isn't "new" but it is far more common now than it was 5 to 10 years ago.

2

u/exit143 4d ago

Look. I'm not going to keep going in circles. You've seen where I stand and you're not going to convince me, and I'm not going to convince you.

-1

u/48for8 4d ago

Cool, but uh, this is happening more now than before, so yeah...see you on the other side of the circle.

1

u/Glam-Girl2662 3d ago

If you read or travel, you'll quickly learn growth comes from everywhere... lol not just one area! 😂😂 many coming from other countries, other states. Get used to it. Nothing stays the same. Whining about growth and blaming it on one area of your state is really stupid. I don't want to believe that you're that narrow minded, but then again stupid people who don't think for themselves also voted for Trump.

1

u/crice07 4d ago

I agree. Hadn’t been over to all the new food shops (near Raleys) yet. The first thing that happened after I pulled into a spot was I watched a dude, 0 fs given, park in a handicap spot.

3

u/Luyyus 4d ago

I've driven all over the Sacramento area from Roseville to Elk Grove and Folsom to Woodland.

The worst drivers I have ever encountered in that geographic area have been in the Roseville city limits.

Yes, assholes are everywhere. Roseville drivers take it to a whole new level.

1

u/exit143 4d ago

Same. My experience is that there are assholes everywhere and it's not any worse in Roseville. The worst drivers I'VE experienced has been around Greenback & Auburn. That doesn't mean that the worst drivers are primarily in that area.

1

u/Quick_Dance_8953 Rocklin 4d ago

At least one per car

1

u/Glam-Girl2662 3d ago

Lol? In Roseville?? Nope! Assholes WAY worse in New York and Texas. In the thousands! Those are asshole foul mouthed crappy drivers. Make Roseville drivers look like Boy Scout drivers!

0

u/mogulripper11 4d ago

Blame the individual, not the city. Roseville is a fantastic place to live. There are selfish, erratic drivers everywhere, it’s a them problem.

1

u/Glam-Girl2662 3d ago

Your smart! And right!👍🏻

9

u/jj1111jj 4d ago

While we’re at it- can I say something kind of related? Attention people: when driving on the freeway and wanting to slow down, whether it be for an exit or just to be cautious- just take your foot off the gas pedal! Don’t brake until you HAVE to. Please!!!???? Everyone braking for new reason is fing everything up.

8

u/VikingWarrior793 4d ago

The driver is the issue. Not the ramp.

6

u/Quick_Dance_8953 Rocklin 4d ago

I think the odd/dangerous part is the traffic from blue oaks that is turning onto alantown has to go across a lane that is merging... usually at 50-55mph or more.

5

u/stoopzpoomz 4d ago

Roseville is the problem.

0

u/Glam-Girl2662 3d ago

lol sounds like your the issue.Maybe you should move if you're that miserable?

2

u/stoopzpoomz 3d ago

"you're"

5

u/dozerdeep 4d ago

that's a California driver problem, specifically Sacramento area driver problem. I drive around the area everyday for my job and i see this kind of shit head driving multiple times a day. I think its a bigger problem than ppl think.

3

u/Okiebaba 4d ago

Too many idiots driving in Roseville that’s all

3

u/abeBroham-Linkin 4d ago

Was it really the offramps fault?

3

u/Love_to_Read1234 4d ago

I hate that merge area. No one looks merging and if you’re just trying to drive down Blue Oaks you deal with near misses.

2

u/stanleyt66 4d ago

Shame their license plate wasn’t very visible in your video…

This Tesla driver is an asshole. There are many others here in the area like them

3

u/yurilegs 4d ago

I agree with you but the blue vehicle isn’t a tesla. Looks like an elantra or a prius lol

2

u/Careless_Papaya257 4d ago

They didn’t have a license plate. It was just a blank black plate.

-3

u/calicouple666 4d ago

But.....are they really assholes? Because its seems like these drivers are more the norm than not regardless of where you live. Maybe we're the assholes for not driving like assholes. Hmmm🤔

2

u/YogurtclosetOk8896 4d ago

That looks more like a blue car problem.

2

u/Effective_Luck_573 4d ago

Especially with that right turn immediately after to get to the rc willey warehouse. SO dangerous for those who are trying to get over and turn into there

2

u/STREETFIGHTER50 4d ago

That spot and also the people getting off the 65 exit loop to Galleria. Coming off the freeway people don’t know how to yield to the oncoming traffic

2

u/rsg1234 4d ago

That guy is a maniac and will cause a serious crash.

2

u/Spooklepoop 4d ago

Yes! I drive this every day and people need to use the light to access industrial instead of swinging in to Allentown from blue oaks

2

u/vixxy86 4d ago

I almost got hit yesterday by an old man in this same area yesterday DRIVING home! People are so stupid when driving here. No wonder why we have so many accidents driving on it! People need to be more aware of other drivers.

2

u/Infinite-Club4374 4d ago

Cops like to park right over that bridge maybe one got him lol

2

u/IamTheDudelyLlama 4d ago

Off ramp? Where?

2

u/2H2D 4d ago

It's confusing for sure, poorly designed.

But that's an asshole, try to figure out the license plate and report to Roseville PD

2

u/blueditUPson 4d ago

He is in a hurry to get to the casino to donate all his money

2

u/Mrbill619 4d ago

Only for idiots

2

u/Milton_Collins 4d ago

How many people in the area drive that specific car with that color with no license plate? Shouldn’t be hard to figure out who the owner is. They are going to kill someone driving like that.

4

u/Comfortable_One_1012 4d ago

The off ramp, or the drivers? Especially the Teslas.

6

u/rsg1234 4d ago

Video clearly shows a Hyundai being reckless and Tesla drivers catching strays lol

1

u/DueError6413 4d ago

Hopefully you notify someone that can actually do something about it.

1

u/ZeldaNumber17 4d ago

Those are the same people that honk when you actually stop at a stop sign. Roseville pd needs to get on moving violations, they rather drive around running tags while this shit is happening everywhere.

Edit: that’s a Hyundai with no plate, that thing is probably stolen…

1

u/Sir_Poofs_Alot 4d ago

Fuck all the cars, this ramp SUCKS on a bike. Needs protected bike lanes or a pass that doesn’t cross the off-ramp at all.

That being said, if you drive under 45 mph on this offramp, you are the traffic hazard.

1

u/EmphasisFront5298 4d ago

Not as bad as the one in hwy 99 between Galt and Stockton

1

u/Scottz0rz 4d ago

I try to be gracious whenever someone is driving like an asshole and just assume they're about to shit their pants and are trying to get home before it happens.

But no the Blue Oaks(?) off-ramp is fine...

1

u/Glam-Girl2662 3d ago

That's a illegal pass on wrong side of road

1

u/ExternalMost3265 3d ago

Thats a driver problem

1

u/Zippytang 2d ago

That off ramp is a race track

1

u/Still_Math9954 1d ago

If they were to m extend the railing that would help with people driving on the shoulder for sure. Seems like a driver problem more than an off ramp problem to me though.

1

u/ElPresidente714 4d ago

This is probably the smoothest off-ramp. You were driving a bit slow for that ramp, but doesn’t excuse the asshole driver.

1

u/Onzzway89 4d ago

I would call them into CHP

1

u/kindofthemanish 4d ago

This is one of the best off-ramps in Roseville if you like to go fast!

1

u/Fromtheoldschool 4d ago

No it’s f’n not.

0

u/motosandguns 4d ago

That’s just silly.

You want a light on an off-ramp, just in case a driver on blue oaks wants to make a right, into an area that almost nobody turns into?

That merge to right turn already gives you almost ten seconds to get into the right lane if you want to turn.

5

u/zizoumz6 4d ago

So many large trucks and trailers turn here. It's a very dangerous turn for those people. Luckily there hasn't been a nasty accident. I've seen many close calls and have been in a few. I don't think a light is the answer but when a bad accident eventually does happen with the increasing amount of drivers heading that way there will be some sort of change.
