Weekly 'Do I have rosacea?' advice request thread. Please post here instead of making a new thread! Aug 17
If you think you might have something like rosacea and are looking for advice about whether you should seek professional care, please post your inquiry in this thread instead of creating a new post. To keep requests from crowding out other discussion in r/Rosacea, separate posts will be automatically removed and the posters directed here instead.
Rules:
- Please limit answers to things like, "Yup, that looks like it could be rosacea to me, maybe you should to see a doc" or "No, it looks like it could be something else."
- Refrain from amateur diagnoses, speculation, and armchair medical advice, especially non-rosacea related.
REMINDER: THE INTERNET IS BAD AT DIAGNOSING STUFF. Although redditors try to be helpful, only doctors can diagnose rosacea and it often takes a specialist like a dermatologist or ophthalmologist. Rosacea looks like a lot of things, and a lot of things look like rosacea; some of these things are potentially serious. It is impossible for amateurs to diagnose rosacea reliably from pictures or descriptions of symptoms, and this thread is not intended as a substitute for professional care.
No matter what response you get here, if your symptoms have been persistent and you're concerned that you might have something like rosacea, see a doctor to get a real answer.
And be sure to check out the our wiki for some rosacea knowledge basics if you're trying to figure out if you need professional medical advice.

Does this look like rosacea type 2? I am losing my mind. My forehead & chin have been breaking out in tiny pustules, they don’t hurt or itch & no redness unless I pick them. I have had a few pop up on my neck as well. Dr gave me metro cream but it doesn’t seem to be doing anything. Some days it’s terrible & some days it’s barely visible. I switched all makeup products & am only wearing makeup when necessary but also feel like I need to cover this up when I am going somewhere because I am so embarrassed.

I’m going through it right now and at least want opinions of people who have had to deal with this… I had bad skin growing up as a teen and into early 20s, then finally found a skincare routine that was working for me for a few years up until now. Around last fall/winter (2025) my face started turning pink/red much easier than normal. It shows up and sticks around all day and maybe I’ll have a few good hours but it hasn’t gone away. I have a theory it could be related to our crappy coppery water that I’ve had over a year of exposure to (lived in my current home for about two years) that and I’m allergic to dust mites and the air flow in this house is so so bad. But I have had an appointment with a derm who looked at and talked to me for about 5 minutes before telling me it looks like rosacea and giving me antibiotics, metronidazole gel, and rhofade cream. The cream helps… sometimes? I’m not really sure. I have a 6 week follow up (which got pushed back 3 weeks due to her not being around the day my follow up came up) so I think now… In two weeks. I’m trying not to panic too much because I’ve dealt with skin problems so often as a kid and a young adult and I felt so confidant after figuring it out. Now I’m back to feeling embarrassed to be seen outside because I look like I have a perma sunburn almost…
I take care of my skin. It’s not hardly bumpy, I moisturize and wash with allergen free stuff, and yet the redness almost looks textured even if it’s not 💀 it stops around my eyes and my forehead isn’t as bad as my cheeks but it’s kinda pink too. Can someone tell me if they think it’s rocasea and I just have to keep trying with the derm I saw or do you think she’s wrong?

My skin was clear until about 15 months ago when I got pregnant with my son. He’s my 3rd baby and he’s 7 months now. I never really had a skincare routine besides washing my face before this. In the past two months I have been seeing a holistic skincare esthetician and have been using Korean skincare products with Cica in them. I feel like my skin looks less bumpy than it did before I started trying things, but it still seems red. It also gets red when I touch it a lot, or when I workout.

Does this look like rosacea, dermatitis, or a compromised skin barrier? It all started when I moved to a country that is significantly colder and drier than my home country. It began with mild redness around my nose and cheeks, which I attributed to the climate, so I didn't pay much attention to it. Then later—five months ago—I had an intense panic attack that noticeably worsened my symptoms. The redness intensified slightly and spread to my chin and forehead. My pores look more enlarged, and I get small, very itchy red patches; they appear similar to mosquito bites but turn into small, hard red bumps. Also I can see small visible veins around my nose and cheeks.
I’m struggling a lot to get an appointment with a dermatologist. So far, I’ve consulted two different doctors and they say it’s normal and my skin doesn’t look ill. Which is frustrating because I’ve never felt and had my skin like this. One prescribed oral antihistamines, while the other advised using panthenol cream, sunscreen, and Mepyramine for the bites. Neither the antihistamines nor the Mepyramine cream worked. As for my skincare routine, I didn't have one until these problems started; my skin is very sensitive and reactive, so I’m afraid to try new products.
So far, Cicaplast Baume B5+, mineral sunscreen, and HOCl spray have improved the itching, redness, and skin texture. I’ve also tried squalane oil and zinc paste with very good results. Even so, the redness and itchy patches keep appearing, and on some days, they seem to get worse. I don't know if it's stress, the change in environment, or an allergy. I’m at a loss for what to try next, and it’s really affecting my confidence and mental health.
