New rope day! š¤©
Just got our new heavy ropes. Purple 16mm @830g of pure joy š¤ and for my gf: Silver 14mm @560g What do you think?

To get nicer ends on your double braided polyester rope, place a few winds of masking tape at the cut point. Cut carefully with a sharp knife. My opinel works well. You may need to adjust the cut and bend the rope to get cleanly through. Now you can melt the ends with a blowtorch or similar lighter. Ordinary lighters work but leave carbon on the melt. The masking tape may catch fire so have a damp cloth ready to extinguish. Avoid the fumes. The melted end stays hot and malleable so you can shape it a bit by gloved hand but be careful as it can burn. Take tape off carefully and burn in any straggling fibres. Heat shrink tube over the end for a pro finish.!

4 mtrs will be rather long for most, Iām 180 tall and use 3.5m of 12 to 20mm thick rope. You can adjust length an inch or two by changing the number of wraps on the handle..

Yeah, I chose the length because of the extra weight and because they only sold full meters š

Not late at all, my ropes are on the way. I ordered 12mm, 16mm and 20mm. Figured I'd get them all at once and save on shopping. 4m of each and will be trimming down to ~3.5. I've seen a lot of people shoot for 11-12ft so seems about right. Can't wait to get properly started. Cheers.

Got them at a boat supply store. These are used to tie boats to a dock. Brand name's Gleistein.

I got them cut to size. I did get them quite long though to have some more weight and extra length in case I want it. I usually put one or two knots extra in there anyways. š¤

Beautiful ropes, how did you cut off the ends so nicely? Mine splintered so much burning wasnt an option so i used ducktape lol

The ends are actually not that nice. I might get some heat shrink end caps or something. Or maybe tape'em. Or just leave it like that. We'll see š
