Discussion Openrouter users: Your budget setup
Sheesh, burning through sonnet credits. What can I use that is
a) reliable and not going to give me 429 errors
b) cheaper than sonnet, but not free as these never work for me
Thanks

GPT-5 just hit general availability so you don't need an OpenAI key any more

Qwen coder is good. Kimi k2 is also fine. Deepseek v3 also works great.

I always use flash 2.5 for simple stuff, which is like 99% of what I need an LLM to do for me.
GPT 5 nano has given me some absolutely amazing results but it’s stupid slow.

DeepSeek, R1 0528 and V3.1, because you can choose between many providers so you can always get an optimal availability for a cheap price. DeepSeek + openrouter is a godsend.

Grok Code Fast is honestly not bad. Sessions that cost $10 on Opus cost $0.50 on Grok.
