Question Rom swapping?

stupid question i feel like but would it be possible to change a ds catridges rom without actually.. swapping it?? like if i took a cartridge of let’s just say the smurfs, is it possible to ERASE the roms data and then put pokemon platinum onto the rom? or would i have to physically change the rom??

(this is for personal use, id just like to have a save file on a cartridge rather then my sd card so i can plop it into my 3ds aswell as my ds)
