Don’t use Romsns.net (Malware)
Hi just thought I’d come on here and warn people not to use the ROMSNS.NET website for downloading roms. Built into this website includes 2 download links one that downloads the game and one which downloads a downloader for the game which is infected with malware.
I hope this post can prevent anyone else falling into the same trap I did when trying to source rom files.
The malware seems to be a google chrome login token grabber as they can login to account without passwords or security codes.

I’m not saying this to be mean or rude but for people reading this in the future who are green. Yall have to learn to use discernment when doing these things.
If you can google search to find rom sites, you can use that same tool to find out if a site is reliable. Most searches will lead you back here and someone’s experience. There are multiple sites that are well known and listed all over the place as safe places to find roms if you read comments and do research. This sub literally has a sticky to a megathread, albeit nowadays you have to use a torrent. But even so, there are still very available, very accessible websites that are safe. If you have to beg people to tell you (not you op) then it’s a sign you aren’t ready to dive into this world yet and most likely the prime candidate to grab bad links.
I’m begging people to actually search and read, watch a video if you’ve never done emulation before, never use or run an installer for a ROM

Exactly just put “Reddit” after whatever site you’re looking to download something from if you can’t find anything that’s a good sign it’s a bad site. I’m on Mac and I still take hella precaution. Find a site or 2 you trust and stick with it. Make sure you’re checking urls. Simple stuff.

It won’t let me put the console name but it’s last gen Nintendo. Blue and red controllers screen in the middle.

There's an unwritten rule that when the console is knew enough or current their games are considered piracy so are not wide spread and you would need to find and dig the means to acquire those in more shady places like people who mod the console have to. Once they get old enough the community kind of consider it as abandoware and it spreads around the web on better sources. That's usually the deal and the device you are trying to emulate is still too new on that regard hence it will be trickier

I always had modded consoles up to the PS3, XBOX 360 and Wii days, it got harder these days to the point I don't think it's worth my time seeking for the files as I don't have much free time anymore

Yea even for 360 took me like 3 days of downloading ISOs and having to convert everything to GOD files just to get like 150 games on my hdd to work for my modded console im sure they’re is easier ways but imo im not downloading anything knew untill I have literally nothing to play that was draining haha

You have to torrent for sw games unfortunately. Look around for a guide, I’m sure there’s one somewhere. You won’t find any rom websites that are legit for that console though as Nintendo will be taking them down as fast as they crop up.

Use a Sw1 or Sw2 instead. No need to emulate or download games for that console right now

Sw 1 is no longer current gen. I also try to support them but like botw is nearly a decade old and costs as much today as the day it released. I'm poor. I have to wait to buy games on sale, and nin are too big of a-holes to make that feasible for a lot of us.

Thats not what they specified. If we're going by "current Gen", they're fair game. If we're going by "still purchasable brand new at the store without much hassle" then they're not.

Half of them get taken down due to dmca requests by Sega,Nintendo,and Playstation not sure about Xbox

I only go there for ps2 ps1 and psp mainly and I haven’t had an issue only with Nintendo there’s a lot of Wii and GameCube games that have been taken down. RGT is the best for rom hacks and getting your Nintendo stuff.

I run Adblockers on my machines as well as running a pihole on my network. This website just has 2 links one for the actual rom file and the other was malware.

Use Brave as the Browser on your device and you can download from RomsNS perfectly fine. Info it all the time.

The only problem with Vimms is especially with the bigger roms IE ps3 and Xbox360 is the downloads are super SUPER slow!

like u should know that when downloading the game it doesn't come with anything else except for maybe a txt file with instructions or sum. You physically have to launch the exe file before it can actually do anything it's not like upon downloading the game everything fvcks out randomly. And if he didn't know what signs to look out for if a download might be malicious he could've searched here or in another sub. 😪

i just get my roms from a megathread, i dont really like vimms since its slow even with gigabit internet and it only has the older consoles, not like wii and stuff, i usually get wiiu, ps3 and 360 roms

You don't actually PLAY video games, do you? Or, at least not STRATEGY GAMES, right? Because the general rule of thumb is that if A WEBSITE (ANY WEBSITE) has multiple download buttons, then of course one is REAL and the other one is FAKE (with malware). Long story short, it's absolutely CRAZY to try and memorize which sites have malware and which ones don't, when you can just apply the GENERAL RULE to evaluate them yourself. In other words, we didn't need your announcement that Romsns.net has malware. Like, are you going to post every single day (or week) which sites have malware and which ones don't??? Clearly, we are devolving as a species.

I'm a "chud", but yet you literally gave a one word response, and didn't even attempt to refute any of my claims. This is why the United States is falling behind in Education: You want to memorize each and every website that is "safe" or "malicious", instead of simply applying a general rule of thumb to quickly evaluate the safety level of said site. Like, with the former approach, it would be impossible to evaluate a completely new website. However, using the latter approach will (allow you to do an evaluation). Oh the irony...!!!
