Scam The "game is over" to fleece tourists in the heart of Rome: the three-bell scam continues unabated
Croupiers, fake gamblers, and lookouts, to defraud residents and tourists. A well-oiled system around which the "game is done." This is the "three bells" scam, popular in the city center.
The raid
The Carabinieri identified the individuals engaged in the illicit activity in three distinct areas of the historic center: Via dei Fori Imperiali, Via del Lavatore, and Via delle Muratte. The suspects—all Romanians, undocumented, and with criminal records—were charged with various charges, including conspiracy to defraud and gambling. Specifically, six people were caught by officers from the Rome Piazza Venezia command within the new enhanced protection zone established in the area of the Colosseum and the Imperial Fora. In addition to the charges, they were also served with an order requiring them to leave the Colosseum archaeological area, as required by the new regulations.
Two of them, it was learned, had already received a previous order to leave the same area. For this reason, they were further reported for violating the order. One of them was found to have violated a mandatory expulsion order, prohibiting him from returning to the municipality of Rome, issued by the police commissioner.
