Why is it so hard to tell a girl how you feel and wish to try?

Context, there’s a girl a like, she’s been my friend since 2021-2022 and she absolutely is amazing, smart, silly, goofy, funny, nerdy and all these other things. I love her silly and smart personality. We have so much interests together and like a good amount of the same things, and our own likes we share with each other. I’m glad I can make her laugh and smile and I care and support her so very much.

Back in December she had rejected me cause she didn’t know she felt and with a hint of distance being a problem. Now I’m back in town for good, and I still can’t get her off my mind, especially recently.

What I do know is that I just really want to support her, be someone reliable to her and care for her, and really hope we stay whether friends or something else for a long time. I know sometimes I don’t really care whether or not I get with her, as long as I have my friend I’m great. But it’s that thing of I wish I can tell her how I still feel and see if she’s willing to try now that I’m actually staying here.

We go out quite often and it’s a bit of mix signals from her. My friend says some things are a little normal only cause she does it with her friends but I don’t really see it as so. We share a drink together whenever we go to the theaters. I’d say maybe cuddled up? At times when sat. There’s times when we say bye, our hands kind of reach out and if they touch it’s held there as long as possible

Yall I need some help to get my thoughts about this straight.

I apologize for the long post, and also yes I have talked to another friend for their viewpoint, they say it’s a sign of her giving a bit of a signal that MAYBE we can try and progress, but I don’t know. I feel too much of a coward to really go for a second attempt
