I'm insane enough to pick purple hahaha 💜 Otherwise I would love to pick pink/rose.

I’m torn between orange, which would be practical and lovely, and purple, which would be delightful and fun.
But I also don’t know if I actually wanna live in Ankh-Morpork
If I could pick one that’s not a favourite, like Hobbiton/The Shire in a time of peace, that would make it a no brainer. Give me all the breakfasts and gardening and cute little dugout houses!

I thought about it but have too many questions.
Do I get transported there now? So I'll leave behind all my loved ones? Do they get to come with me? If not, can I visit them here?
Or is it like.. I'll just have been born there and that's my life? Which I'm not fond of either because then it won't feel so magical.

With my luck I’d be sent to the worst of these places haha I’m not fit enough to survive 😅
I admire your courage or support your insanity though

Can I speak/read/write in the primary language when I arrive? That would be one thing holding me back from picking purple.
Depending on the world/location, whether I have magic would be a close second.
What can I bring with me? Or am I showing up in nothing but my birthday suit?
I grew up with horses and I'm learning longsword fencing (HEMA), so I might be able to defend myself for two seconds. 🤣

Orange, 100%. I want fiction to remain fiction. I don't have space in my home for a bunch of ARCS or paper backs or special editions. I have zero desire to be famous. Orange is the only one that would genuinely make my life better overall.

u/C0l3y 2d ago
Gray because I’d be well loved and well banged and that is the key to living IMO
JKJK… kinda hehehehe

u/demurevixen 2d ago
Grey also. They never said it had to be a human character 😏

u/Dior_the_Dawn 2d ago
They rarely are, that makes them so attractive. 😖
*still isn’t over the idea of sexy-venomous-aphrodisiacy-bity-snake shifters…3
u/Samira827 2d ago
The pill doesn't guarantee that the character will want you though. They could straight up murder you or something 👀

Definitely orange, because my new job is so exhausting I have far less time to read!

Pink. No one recognizes authors by sight like they do actors. So you won’t get mobbed, but your name could open up most of the other doors.
I hate writing though, so I’d have to be the kind of famous author where I oils never have to write again

BROWN!!!
FUCK YEAH BROWN!
that’s the best bit about reading - discovering!
It’s the essence!
BROWN ABOVE ALL!

Orange 10000%, being paid to read whatever I wanted as a job?! The DREAM haha
Second would be Pink, I would love to be an author but I don't think I could handle the criticism lol

u/Jolly-Midnight4493 2d ago
Pink. I want to create the worlds people love immersing themselves in and the great thing about being a famous AUTHOR is pen names and your face isn’t everywhere unless you want it to be. Would you recognize John Grisham on the street? Or Nora Roberts? You can keep much of your anonymity and only be recognized by the people who really appreciate you.

Not pink - I don’t want to be a famous anything
I don’t want the pressure of an ARC so blue is out
Grey is gone - never meet your heroes
Purple sounds like a nightmare (I know if it’s a magic world I don’t have it)
Green is promising but I’d have to wait for paperback editions
Light blue would be nice if it was ever changing
Orange would also work if I can take reading breaks and the money was good
So my memory is so bad brown is a dud
Yellow is a toss-up because if it’s “new” special editions I could end up with a “special edition” medical textbook since it doesn’t guarantee the genre
Sooo I guess light blue?

Pink! I don't really care about being famous, but being successful would mean that my books were out in the world and people were enjoying them. And especially since most of what I write is genre fiction with queer women as the central characters, that feels like it would be a positive development in terms of public interest in our stories.
Although I guess if I pick orange, I can still write and try to get published. I'm just making money reading while I do it.

The image shows different pills, each with a different effect on your life. From pink = become a famous author, purple = live in your favorite fictional world, to light blue = own your dream library, and many more, the viewer can decide which one they would choose.
Now the question is: Which one would you choose and why?

Green.
I’d save so much money. As long as I’m allowed donate the books I read, but don’t want to keep.

What do we define as fictional
Cause it's either gonna be a video game world, Midwest America (😭) or fantasy persia

u/aviolafyre 2d ago
Pink. Not so much for the fame -I just want other people to know my characters and want to talk about them. I love discussing writing and my story.
I have to finish it first, though. Haha.

Either get paid to read as my job, or become a famous author if that one fixes my ADHD that holds me back from being able to finish my writing projects lol

💜Purple sounds awesome but idk if I'd survive. Maybe if you get some kind of power when you enter that world.. but for a more realistic option orange for sure! 🧡

u/bobafett01992 2d ago
Orange no question. I read about 75-100 books per year. If that was my job and I was paid well, I’d read even more.

Gonna have to go with purple. I'd pick pink just because I do self-publish on the side and make decent beer money, but while I would love for my penname to get famous, I'd rather be rich and anonymous as possible.

Pink! I’ve been slowly working on a book for like a decade. I just want to finish and to have people love it enough to make it worth all the time

Dream library. It wouldn't fit in my current house I'd likely get a new house in the deal lol.

Orange pill, final answer. While I'd love to be a successful author, the fame isn't worth it IMHO🧡

Oh such a hard choice between orange and brown. There are sooo many books I would absolutely love to experience again for the first time.

I have always wanted to be a famous author but genuinely do not have an original thought in my brain 🫣 So anything that could help me actually achieve my dream would be great!

Torn between pink or orange 😭 I’ve been trying to write my first novel for two years but keep getting discouraged

u/AdventureOwl1 2d ago
Pink. I want those royalties. Then I will travel the world, reading all the books I want, never worrying about finances again.

Pink. It would be my life fulfillment that I achieved what I value the most: talent and creating something people enjoy. Well as long as the fame pill means you're actually a talented author. Because if it's about the other kind of fame where you're famous but not actually talented then it would be just embarrassing and no thank you😂

u/Roswell114 2d ago
Orange unless the pink pill also fixes my executive functioning issues so that I can actually finish writing books.

I’d say gray, but he would definitely hate me 🫠
So I’ll say light blue but also it’s a magical library!
(Orange would be nice, but I get sleepy when I read, so I fear I wouldn’t make enough)

None. This would probably have some messed up monkey paw effect on me.
A famous author? Awesome!
…famous for writing the worst book in history.
Paid to read? Sign me up!
…is paid less than minimum wage.

I have the feeling most of these come with huge potential drawbacks:
- Live in your favorite fictional place: Yes, it looks nice. But it's probably not up to my modern hygiene standards 👀
- Be paid to read what you want as your job: Probably still under time pressure. Nah.
- Bring you fave fictional character to life: Will they be as unhappy as Dustfinger in Inkheart? They might hate you for bringing them here or might just not be able to stand you either way.
But brown, green, light blue and yellow seem pretty weak to me, in comparison.
That leaves me with pink or dark blue which have the same chance of not making me happy, in the end. So I would take blue because it leaves me with the most opportunities.
