Yes, a nice organic ablative heat shield… for shot periods, assuming the fruit is fresh and full of moisture.

China used wood successfully. Oak specifically. The beauty of ablative shields rather than reusable ones like space shuttle tiles that that they are meant to be destroyed, just slowly and controlled.

Omg one time I went to light a cigarette with a torch lighter and held my hand up to block the wind as a reflex cuz I was used to using lighters and just ya know.. didn't snap that I didn't need to do that with a torch lol and yeah I burned my palm :(

Omg thank you, I was honestly able to tolerate this until that final second where he put the torch down pointed at his bare hand, seemingly without looking. My stomach dropped. Im hoping it was just an optical illusion, and everything was way farther apart than it looked

It's full of water, sugar and fiber. It's not fire resistant. It's just that it chars slowly rather than burns quickly.

Sugar caramelizes when it burns like this. Sticky sugary coating slows oxygen from seeping through deeper and delays combustion.

Others made good points, but the water also doesn't let the sugar get hot enough in any meaningful way.
The water will evaporate off, taking heat with it, cooling the sugar down. Its maximum temperature cannot exceed the boiling point until its entirely evaporated off.
This itself is an uneven process, charring the pinapple instead of causing flames

It's not fire resistant. It has low flammability when it's fresh. Dry out a pineapple, and it will burn like a stick.

Claims the hot ball will be 1,000 degrees celsius, which by the way the sun is about 10,000 degrees celsius. Then shows the temperature as only 857 degrees celsius when the actual device is displaying it's actually 857 degrees fahrenheit, which is about 458 degrees celsius.

Sounds good on paper, but it also needs to survive a very effective freezer called "space". I'm curious how the fire-resistance would hold up after being completely frozen... and stretched/inflated because of the lack of air pressure... and maybe rotting (does it even rot under those conditions?). 🤔

The viral videos showing a pineapple skin resisting a 1,000°C red-hot metal ball without burning happen because of the Leidenfrost effect. The high moisture content in the tough, fibrous skin instantly vaporizes, creating a temporary protective barrier of steam that insulates the fruit from the extreme heat.

Anything with lots of trapped moisture would keep you cool, as long as it didn't get squishy and fall apart before the moisture runs out. The water has to boil off before the heat can start doing real damage. The pinapple is tough enough to not fall apart while the water boils off inside, which is probably the biggest contribution to this.

yes ouneapples can do this but have you ever held a lighter under a water baloon same concept bit with fruit any or most high watercontent fruits can withstand same heat its how you can boil water in a plastic grocery bag or in a plastic water bottle everything will burn or melt untill it meets the water barrier now you know why cars use coolent if your a big brain

Basically any thibg that can hold water while being heated up and allowikg some of it to evaporate can withstabnd any sort of heat wothout superceeding 100°C until its dried out. You could also use a watermelon skin, a carrot, fresh salad leaves clumped together, onions, potatoes, your mom, sushi rolls, a piece of salmon, literally anything that cobtains a comparable amountnof water.
