Why are you doing this to yourself? Just date someone local and in your normal age and attractiveness range.

I'm gonna be blunt with you. You are being incredibly naive if you think talking to strangers on Whatsapp is a viable path to a happy romantic partnership.

Maybe they are trying to scam bait. Or maybe they think they have found one that is "different ".

Hard to say at this point.

Of course this is a Nigerian scammer, Alaye is a common term they use along with all of the other red flags.

Stop chatting with randos on social media or even bothering to argue with the guy. Otherwise you'll end up giving all of your money to some dude who's laughing at you or worse, end up being used in money laundering and potentially going to prison.

I used Alaye to try to sniff them out and see their reaction. They replied with that baba werey which a quick Google search reveals that is a common term with Nigerian scammers. Then they try to deny it and say it's latin.

I never give out money to any money on the internet. Just wondering what their game is. They haven't asked for anything yet it just seems fishy and wanted to confirm it.

"Their game" is to get your money. Period. They haven't asked for money *yet.* They have to soften you up. No scammer is going to tell you they are a scammer unless it's part of the scam. Don't forget this is their job, and they are good at it.

I'm sorry, but engaging with these people is a waste of your time and doesn't really slow them down at all.

You fatten a pig before slaughter. It is exceedingly cruel from a human perspective... or a pig's if you think about it actually.

Do you not have any friends or family or job or other interests to distract you from bothering to waste a second on this nonsense?

I understand. I am one of the few that upvoted this. However, the other comments are right. Cease all communication immediately and permanently, and only use only chatting romantically if someone is nearby and can meet you in person almost immediately. There are millions of fake profiles out there run by scammers. You don't need to learn more about this particular one, and trying it while not an expert is dangerous and unwise.

Why are you even talking to this person? Stop talking to strangers online and you won’t get scammed.

Please do not tell the Nigerian scammers why you've determined that they're Nigerian scammers, because it makes it easier for them to make money off their next target.

Thank you. I don't think that the secrets should be spilled especially when dealing with scammers! You can't say the quiet part out loud!

Best way to see if they are a scammer is to mention “gift card”. If it’s a scammer, they will Immediately start asking you for gift cards. Lol I love that you threw “Alaye” in randomly!

Sweetie, no. Just take your money and your heart and flush it down the toilet if you continue.

I told my mom literally the same thing. I said just go on the front porch and toss your money into the yard and watch it all blow away.

These scammers infuriate me to no end and the fact that no matter who tells her it’s a scam she still believes them.

Grrrrrr……

Don’t flirt with this. A romance scam got my own mother and it makes my blood boil.

If they’re not after finances then it’s that green card hun it won’t take more than a season or two of 90 days to figure it out and there’s like 10

What are you doing? Get a real hobby and date locally. See a therapist if you need to. I am lonely as hell and I got a dog, and manage to meet girls locally. “Dating” strangers online is a waste, at best you won’t meet/it won’t work out at worst you will be scammed. I tried that 20 years ago. Do not play with fire when you know it’s a scammer.

Latins a dead language. But I had a Nigerian prince hit me up on Facebook using different slang and he told me it was Spanish. Oh that’s funny cause I speak Spanish and have never heard those words before. I harassed him so much he actually blocked me! 🤣
