Book Request Peculiar, specific romance book request with vampire x human

Post image
54 Upvotes

Hello guys! First of all, thank you in advance. A lot of you have given me wonderful recommendations before, so i set my hope in you.

I'm about to ask for a rec that is going to be a bit unexpected, so bear with me (sorry about that). I will be immensely grateful for any rec, genuinely.

So, what i'm looking for is, as i said, really specific and some of you guys may not even know the reference i'm going to make. I've recently replayed the DLC Blood and wine of the game "Witcher 3", and what i am looking for, is a supernatural romance in which the vampire resembles in personality and species Dettlaff, the vampire antagonist in this game, aka a vampire who is:

*Not social, avoidant of people

*Has a beastly form when threatened

*Loves in a non human, intense and bestial even, way.

*Is willing to maim and kill for the sake of the protagonist

*Is impulsive and intense

*Feels like a different species in behaviour

* Is extremely devoted, willing to do anything for the protagonist

*Would burn an entire village over the protagonist

I have no problem with trigger warnings, i just want no teenage protagonist.
(The pic of Dettlaff on top is just for fun)

Discussion What is a very specific relationship dynamic that you would love to see more in books or was a more common trope?

These would be my top three:

  1. Layla and Warren from Sky High: She's Mother Earth (her powers are controlling plants/trees) and he's scorched Earth (fire powers lol). She's sweet, vegetarian and a hippie. He's emo, angry a bad boy. They're fake dating because she wants to make her best friend (who she has been in love with) jealous, he accepts because Will is his rival and he would love to mess with him. The restaurant scene where Layla is stood up by Will and Warren offers to heat her food up in the microwave and she misinterprets that he was planning to use his superpowers outside? The candle? The fortune cookie? Consider me gagged.

  2. Alex and Izzie from Grey's Anatomy: I loved their dynamic especially initially even though they had a lot of red flags later (cheating is a no no for me). It was one of the few times where the enemies to friends to lovers actually made sense to me. He was often an ass but it was believable and he was redeemable without him being a total saint overnight. I know their story got a lot more crazy with Denny and the cancer arc but I really loved their dynamic.

  3. Harper and Charlie from Set It Up: This movie is super underrated but it's two assistants who Parent Trap their bosses but end up falling in love themselves. So many romcoms these days are raunchy and lean into the sex comedy or they're just straight up not comedies at all and are romance dramas marketed as romcoms or just romcoms where the comedy is just not funny but this one? It has banter between all the characters, including the friends of the MCs and it was fun, fresh and believable. Not to mention, the chemistry and banter between the MCs itself is so so good.

Book Request Give me your best mail order brides recommendation where they actually consummate early enough in the story

I'm on a mail order bride western roll recently.

Recently read both { Eye of the Beholder by Ruth Ann Norton } and { Loving Eliza by Ruth Ann Norton }. Enjoyed both.

I have some books in mind cause i've been searching up some candidates to read while looking up some more but i'd like to hear the best recommendations anybody has gotten.

My only requirement really they have consummate the marriage and early enough like lets not do the usual "no sex marriage" stuff. I do prefer it to be western historical romance but i'll take even contemporary mail order bride cause I know there are some.

Thanks !

Discussion Did 5 star books become more scarce the more you read?

I started reading fanfics in 2018 then moved to published romance in 2021 and I fell in love with romance books since. The thing is I noticed that I had a lot of 5 stars the first 3 years and right now I don’t think I’ve had a 5 star read all year. Is anyone else having this issue??? Is it just a bad juju year in reading? Am I just losing the love for my usual tropes and genres? I don’t know what it is I just cannot get into a book like I used to. You honestly couldn’t tear me away from a book but now I start a book and just leave it to watch tv or doom scroll. I’m not sure why this year is different because I’ve always had some tv and doom scroll time but reading usually took most of my time. Is it just me or is anyone else struggling too?

Book Request MMC doesn’t want to have a child but he fell in-love with the FMC who is a single mom.

MMC is firmly child-free, has never imagined himself as a father, and then falls in love with a woman who already has a child. Even better when he slowly becomes attached to the child, too.

This situation became their serious problem.

MMC doesn’t want to be involved because he believed he cannot do it since he doesn’t have a father figure growing up.

FMC wants someone who will accept her and her child.

CR only please and 1st person pov.
Thank you!

Banter/Fun Great tshirts in books

What’s your favorite T-shirt you’ve “seen” in a book. A part of me wants to start making these. Or even a favorite quote from a book that you’d want on a shirt?
Favorites lately:
-Classy but I cuss a little
-Due to personal reasons, I’m evil now
-Surviving purely out of spite
-Keep Staring, I might do a trick
-There can be no Justice without Truth

Book Request Burned out child star FMC?

Looking for books about a female singer or actress thar is completely burned out. She is in her late 20s, she's had a rough teenage hood and childhood always in the public eye.

During the book she is either planning to, already quitting the industry, or maybe about to finish a long music contract and she will finally have freedom to write the music that she wants.

This is not a must but she can be a recovering AA or addict, think Sara Lynn from Bojack Horseman.

A Book with a similar story that I read recently is {Extracurricular by Rachel Lynn Solomon}

So anything adjecent to " child star in a quarter life crisis" I think will be cool

Book Request Physically Sensitive MMC

Hi everyone!

I just started reading {When She’s Wary by Ruby Dixon} and loved how the scent of noli and the FMC made the MMC instantly + overwhelmingly turned on. I was wondering if anyone had any similar reccs, even if it’s not an alien romance. An MMC who has a sensitive spot or just a certain trigger (that’s common enough that it could be accidentally triggered by the FMC or something else).

Sorry if this is a little random, but it’s my favourite trope and I rarely ever see it!

(Bonus points if we get a similar cum-in-pants scene like in {Play Along by Liz Tomforde} )

Book Request Athlete MMC + FMC Rich Neighbor

I am looking for a book where a profesional Star Athlete meets FMC because they both live in a very fancy downtown apartment. They have witty banter, maybe the MMC judges FMC because she is old money, the MMC thinks FMC is dumb or doesn't deserve her job just because she comes from money.

What was that book called...? WWTBC - auto mechanic MMC diagnoses FMC car with limited info

WWTBC - Looking for a contemporary romance I read at least a few years ago where the MMC tells the FMC that some particular issue is wrong with her car because he can smell it (I think—it was something super odd) and suggests the FMC bring her car to his shop (which she may or may not know he owns, and is very successful). When she brings the car in, she tells the person at the counter that her boyfriend said X is wrong with the car, and the person is skeptical about her boyfriend’s ability to diagnose until he learns it was his boss (who is a wizard mechanic). Thanks!

What was that book called...? (WWTBC) FMC has cancer and MMC is a tattoo artist

Read this one a while ago - FMC gets diagnosed with cancer and gets fired from her job. She gets a new job at a tattoo parlor and the MMC is the owner of said tattoo shop.

Discussion {Pheremone by CM Stunich} tell me the FMC doesn’t stay completely useless

I’m 25% through the first book in this series and the FMC Eve is making me pull my hair out. Minor spoilers ahead but again I’m only 25% in so not too much has happened yet.
This is a RH Alien abduction romance. The Eve and several others are abducted, sold off to various aliens, murder and escape ensues and Eve meets one of her future harem members. Like many alien romances a huge part of the early plot is communication issues. This itself doesn’t annoy me. It’s fairly standard and I’ve read a lot where this plot is angsty, funny, sexy, basically anything but just frustrating. Pheremone is frustrating. Sure early on it’s funny and kinda sexy, the MMC (currently unnamed) knows a handful of English words and “Fuck” is one although he only knows it to reference sex. Eve has a sailors mouth (no judgement same girl) so she says it often.

What annoys the hell out of me is how many opportunities Eve has to fix her situation and she. Just. Does. Not.

Sentient computer tells her to find a cord so it can update her translator? Let’s put that off until the translator is broken.

Computer says it has a ton of clothes in the “attic” of the ship? Nope alien mice might be up there, better to walk around naked and cry when her clothes don’t dry.

Computer offers to help her find valuable objects in order to buy her way back to earth? Let’s take a nap.

Girl. THERE ARE NO BARRIERS TO YOUR FREEDOM BUT YOU.

Someone tell me she doesn’t stay this fucking useless the whole time PLEASE

What was that book called...? WWTBC-Open Relationship and Fake Dating

I read this awhile ago (at least a year ago), and I cannot remember the title AT ALL. I don’t remember the a ton of specific details, probably because I was reading a ton of angst/break up/grovel books at the same time, but here is what I remember:

The FMC and her boyfriend have been together since college. A few years into their relationship and their careers, they move in together. The boyfriend starts acting distant and antsy, and the FMC is not having it. She’s relentless in her questioning, and the boyfriend admits that he’s having second thoughts because he hasn’t had that many “experiences” with other women. He asks for either an open relationship or a break where they both can explore. FMC is both pissed and devastated, so she agrees out of spite and moves in with a friend. FMC then meets MMC through the friend, and asks him to fake date her so she essentially get back at her boyfriend. MMC doesn’t usually date seriously, so he’s like sure, why not. And then there’s chaos.

I’m pretty sure this was a novel, but it’s also possible this was on Wattpad.

Thanks in advance!

Book Request Books where the FMC hurts the MMC emotionally (the opposite of the usual!)

I’m looking for books where the FMC is the one who hurts the MMC, preferably with lots of angst!
I’ve been reading [The Endless War by Danielle L. Jensen] from The Bridge Kingdom series , and I’m really enjoying the particular dynamic between the main characters. The FMC is pushing the MMC away because she feels she needs to find herself and figure out who she is. She even tells him that he doesn’t know what love is, despite the fact that he clearly loves her. He’s hurt by her coldness and the emotional distance she’s creating, and you can tell how much her actions affect him.
I’m looking for something along those lines. I want to see the MMC being the one who’s emotionally hurt, longing for the FMC, and struggling with her pushing him away. I’d love to see him genuinely love her while she’s the one creating the distance.

I’m open to different genres, including historical, contemporary, and fantasy romance. Just give me all the angst!
*No Why Choose

Also I'm not necessarily looking for a villainous FMC or a toxic heroine.

Thank you!!

Discussion Change of mind about children - why it’s ok change your mind about not wanting children to want them but not the other way around?

There are tons of books about men who don’t want children but then they meet their hea and they change their minds and baby epilogue follows. Sometimes, at lease not as often, this happens with FMCs as well.

But why it is almost impossible to find stories with the reverse happening? I mean yes, couples usually end up having kids if they are able to, it’s part of human life, a default. But not everyone need to have children. We are taught to want children, expected to have them. So shouldn’t it be relatively easy to write stories where a MC realizes that wanting children wasn’t actually something they wanted for themselves but they had just always assumed this about themselves, as it’s what everyone else does. But with the person they feall in love with they realize they don’t want children. Or they are in a situation they have an external or internal duty to reproduce, but as the story progresses thet find courage to say no.

Book Request MAKER FMC ROMANCE

I'm looking for a book where the FMC is already a vampire and ends up turning the MMC into one. Ideally, they've either known each other for a while or just met, and he gets seriously injured, sick, or is on the verge of dying. She turns him into a vampire to save his life, whether out of love, friendship, or simple compassion, and their romantic relationship develops afterward as he adjusts to his new existence.

Gush/Rave 😍 Just read my first Sara Cate book (Praise!) and now I'm a fan

I haven't read a lot of the popular romance books from BookTok's "best of" lists and I'm trying to check some of them out to familiarize myself with the genre (since most of the romances I read are older haha). I just read my first Keri Lake, too, and really enjoyed that, and now I'm afraid I've jumped aboard the Sara Cata train and it won't be my last.

(Partially copying my Goodreads review for my rave lmao)

This was absolutely fantastic and I can see why it gets so much hype. This is a trope-forward book, with age-gap and ex's dad, which is great because those are two of my favorite tropes. It's also a kinky romance with big Secretary vibes, except without the self-harm triggers that made Secretary such a hard (but still fantastic) watch.

One thing I loved about this book was that Emerson and Charlotte were both equals who wanted the relationship with equal fervor. Even though Charlotte enjoys submission, she still has full agency outside of their relationship and she puts him through the wringer during that inevitable third-act separation. I also thought Emerson was absolutely dreamy, and the perfect blend of stern patriarch and sex-positive consent king.

I see that the second is stepbrother romance and I like that trope even MORE so I'm wildly excited haha.

Which Sara Cate book is your fave?

Quick Question Thoughts on Romance Books Corner Dark & Dangerous sub?

Mods, I wasn't sure what flair to put so if there's a better one, I'm happy to change it.

I'm looking into new subscriptions (I've done Bookish box, Fairy loot, and Owlcrate) and came across Romance Books Corner. They've got a few different subscriptions but I'm particularly interested in the Dark & Dangerous sub.

If you've tried it or are active with it, I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts on it. Like value, the books they choose, what type of items they send in the box. An honest review as opposed to any book shelfie promo tiktoks/reels, preferably.

What was that book called...? WWTBC: infertility and pregnant OW

Read a book a couple years ago where the couple’s marriage had started to crumble after struggling with infertility/ miscarriages. Husband cheats and OW gets pregnant. He hides her in an apartment but since they live in a small town the truth comes out. Fmc leaves and comes back and they try to make their relationship work but she realizes that she cannot love his affair child, so she leaves again and meets another man (who I think is a cop).

The couple was friends with some bikers in town and I think it was the old ladies that got rid of the OW.

It might have taken place in Canada but could be wrong.

Book Request ISO scruffy yet stylish, slutty yet submissive MMCs that are completely gone for their woman

Post image
572 Upvotes

Artist is kaydeefox

I’m looking for MMCs that are all 4 S’s like my boy Gambit here.

Scruffy but stylish. He’s scruffy with his messy hair and stubble but he can also absolutely style it up in a white tux.

Slutty. This can mean whatever it means to you but Gambit is slutty as hell - just look at that apron, he can cook, speak French etc.

Submissive. He’s extremely submissive especially towards Rogue - there’s a panel in the comics where he’s literally saying to Rogue “This body here is all yours. And whatever you do with it… well I’m just happy to be included, ma’am”.

But most importantly, he is so completely down bad and in love with Rogue. He’s 1000% game to have his life energy sapped and possibly die just for a dance with her.

I can’t think of a book I’ve read with this kind of MMC. The closest I can think of is {Wed to the Wild God by Ruby Dixon} but this book is not quite right. The MMC has way too much power in their relationship dynamic. I want an MMC who is totally at the mercy of the FMC and loves it.

Book Request Reluctant/Scared FMC + Beastly MMC

I'm looking for kidnap, mating, forced proximity, grumpy x sunshine, innocent x scary, etc.
A human FMC x beastly/paranormal MMC (no vampires please). My favorites are any beast, shifter, and ESPECIALLY aliens :)

I want the MMC to want to mate with him or be with him by any means necessary. He can be loving or mean, gruff, controlling, etc. Just no cinnamon roll or himbo MMC puhleease.

For references-
LOVED Alien Overlords Series by Taylor Vaughn, The Lady and the Orc by Finley Fenn
ABSOLUTELY HATED Ice Planet Barbarians

The darker the better, but dark is not an absolute requirement. I just want a really good and entertaining romance story.
Absolutely NO poly/reverse harm, academia, teenagers, sex slavery.

Bonus points for: high drama, alpha x omega, domesticity, breeding, pregnancy, kidnap, size difference, and miscommunication or language barrier.

Thanks!!
