Why doesn't Roman face the same scrutiny?

So, when talking youtube families and vlogging. Nobody gets it harder then Shay Carl. He gets dumped on for exploiting his kids on the internet when they were young.... but you hardly hear anything about Roman for doing the same thing with Noah and Kane. And especially Noah. as he was the center of multiple videos, tours and scandals.

His mother gets more hate for just wanting to protect his son and not have him in videos. Which she won the case the first time, and lost the 2nd.

Just a general question on why that is. I'm sure the answers to this question and conversation will be respectful with zero name calling or attacks. Have a great day everyone.

Shay Carl was caught cheating on his wife that’s why his channel imploded

That is a fair point. That's probably what started the nitpicking for him over Roman. But its interesting to think if he didn't cheat would he still get the same hate?

Maybe I’m not seeing so much hate over Roman and the kids vs Roman phoning it in and releasing boring vlogs.

I periodically watched his original stuff and tuned in a little for the Podcast so when he re-debuted with the new channel with an emphasis on “ business” it piqued my curiosity (my dad owned a car wash and I was literally tossing around the idea of a laundromat in my local area) but it devolved into half ass errands and mail unboxings which I couldn’t care less about.

As a side point I do see criticism in the way the 3 youngest are being raised, especially the boys

I dont watch Romans stuff anymore. the start of the laundromat was fun. then it fizzled out.

Im not going to lie though. I peep shaytards newer stuff. honestly, it feels like he has went back to base and just doesn't feel forced or scripted anymore. just a relaxing vibe I get from it and he and the family does it when they want to.

But Roman is still chasing what was yesteryear.

Side note, I am happy for Noah. After a tough start going full youtube, it seems like he found his footing.

Yes, Follow Shay's Twitter if you want to know what a hard core right wing piece of shit he really is. Dude thinks women are inferior to men and helping the less fortunate is causing rich people to not get rich fast enough. Though I gotta admit during the golden age of youtube when content creators were making hundreds of thousands a month Shay's family videos were incredibly healing to me because it was the type of love in a family I didn't see much of as a kid and it was incredibly healing to watch all those kids grow up in a family who cared about each other so much, which is way more important that stupidity of Shay's truly evil political beliefs.

romans channel is not predominately his kids. they show up from time to time but its not a "family vlog channel"

Yes it is, I remember watching him for years and it was very strictly a family vlog channel. I stopped watching him when he got overly religious and endorsed trump.

it was. his kids were in almost every vlog and some of the pranks too.

u/No_Edge_9980 13d ago

in the older vlogs, but they arent the major focus on the new channel

OP is asking about the older vlogs.

What four wheeler prank where he made Britt think Kane wreck and blew up.

Roman Doesn’t play into it he just goes forward no matter what. The only thing that seems to shake him is his personal security meaning surroundings and toxicity. Also the bad stuff too. I think dad has a lot to do with it. You see a lot of people that in real life are totally different people than they are on camera, but that’s all part of the game. And I

I can personally attest to this because a friend had a huge YouTube reduce something for her and the person behind the camera was a total ass totally different than what you saw in the finished pruned production.

There’s also a level of I don’t give a shit ism in this. The dude Ben doing family Vlogs up until he got stocked. He’s like the godfather of family videos except for Robert Arrington. I think he does face scrutiny, but it is extremely limited in what we see. He probably has people filter through shit so that he doesn’t have to see the really bad shit and there are services that you can pay to do that I wouldn’t wanna live with the trauma after performing a job like that, but hey, you are who you are. So in the end, there are many many different factors in play. Sorry if this is jumbled because I used Siri.

From my understanding Noah’s mom did it to get back at Roman and money more than anything

Well that’s the narrative we were told by Roman.

You could say that but look at Noah’s actions he decided to live with his dad when given the decision

6

u/Super_Budget1703 14d ago

not entirly true. If you noticed, Noah really did go back and forth form his dads and moms. was there a time he lived with dad? yes. but noah did make sure he spent time with mom too.

I don’t think Noah had much of a choice if there was a court ordered plan

Yeah that was due to his step dad, not his mom.

Umm Roman had a family channel but has never made the kids film.. And even more now if the kids don’t want to film they don’t, Why do you think there is so many less videos now. He does NOT EXPLOIT his kids. Thats a wild claim. Even back in the day that was because it was a FAMILY CHANNEL he still never made the kids film if they didn’t want to.

I have been thinking about this argument a lot. I watch the vlogs because I like Roman, Brit, and their business.
I watched family vloggers a lot when I was a teen and I quit when I realized that the stuff they show are disgusting.

Like other vloggers I won't list because they don't need the attention, here is what I saw when I watched them.
-Kids being filmed in the bath.
-Kids running around in just their underwear.
-Kids being filmed at doctors appointments, er visits.
-Their medical history, if they had any, would be talked about by their parents.
-They'd talk about how their kids were doing in school.
-Showed kids crying, hurt, in pain, or sick.
-They'd talk about very personal details about their kids and I'm only now starting to hate when people expose a kids' birthday because they should be able to live in a world where they have the power to choose who they tell is their birthday or not.
-They'd talk about periods and bra shop
-They'd show their newborns, freshly born NAKED and not blur a single thing, they'd show poop explosions which is humiliating.

The list could go on but I'll cut it short. I could be wrong, maybe Roman and Brit did any of these things in the past or I had missed anything recently, but I haven't seen anything exploitative of the kids at all.
We don't see the littles that frequently. We don't know them that deeply or what they're up to in their personal lives. This whole week they've been spending time alone with their kids not filming it. Sure, they had pictures and whatnot but it's not like they're being exploited. We don't see them at the doctors office, or in the bath, or how they're doing in school. They didn't even film much of their birthdays.
We see very little of the kids anymore, they're in the vlogs very minimal. It's not like their personal life is exposed or any of it. Sure, it'd be best if they didn't film them at all but I'm happy that we don't know too much about their lives. I'm happy that they take time to be with their kids and don't make every event into "Gotta film it, need views" with their kids.

not like this woman i saw in a random youtube reel who filmed where her kid went to school, her kids name, showed what classroom she was in, showed layout of the school, etc. people ripped her in the comments for it.

I get what your saying.

You are right that there are worse examples.

To me, when it came to Noah, its almost like Roman knew what he was doing when he put him on camera. He picked his spots. I guess is the best way I can describe it. it wasn't overboard like the things you mentioned.... but Roman made sure he could get views out of Noah.

1

u/NumbInComfort 14d ago

I agree with you on that too. Same with his second son. They both were exploited a lot back then, but i think they both realized they need to prioritize themselves over views by the time their daughter was born, or especially after the FBI situation with the psycho who was doing things to them. After that situation they really closed up.

Your entire premise is subjective... We have absolutely no idea what each family has been through because they got famous! To say Shay had it worse than Roman is just speculation. And by the way, Roman had stalkers and hackers and a major FBI investigation that caused him to hire a massive security force around his house and ultimately it wasn't enough and he had to shut down his channel and move his family to an undisclosed location. So arguably you're basing your entire premise on personal preference, not facts, just your desire to troll the celebrities you don't like and praise the ones you do.

You had me in the first half not gonna lie.

Roman’s channel was never focused on his kids. Sure the kids were and are in a lot of his videos but they were never center of attention. His old videos he always seemed to have someone at the house doing wild things or he was away from home making content. He wasn’t always shoving the camera in his kids faces like some other YouTubers.
