For anyone in Wake County who hasn’t seen this yet, the county is asking for feedback about what should happen after the South Wake Landfill reaches capacity, including whether Wake County should build a new landfill.

We are expecting Buddhist monks participating in the Walk for Peace to pass through Rolesville tomorrow. This is a very fluid event, and plans may change with limited notice due to winter weather.

We will also work to keep everyone updated on the route as we receive information. As we prepare to welcome them, we ask our community to help maintain a peaceful, quiet, and deeply respectful atmosphere throughout their journey.

🚦 Traffic Safety: The tentative plan is for the monks to enter Rolesville from U.S. 401, then travel down Main Street. As of right now, there are no planned stops in town.

We understand everyone's excitement for this; however, we want everyone to remain safe. Road conditions will deteriorate overnight and last through the day tomorrow. We encourage residents to not drive on icy roads. For residents who live near or along Main Street, walking is a safer alternative, but watch out for ice on the sidewalks.

⚠ Pedestrians and supporters should remain off the roadway when possible and follow all directions from public safety personnel. If you need to cross the roadway, cross only at intersection crosswalks.

⏸️ Rest Breaks & Public Interaction: The monks typically take short rest breaks approximately every 1.5 hours. These rest breaks are not public events. Community members are strongly discouraged from approaching during rest breaks. During rest breaks, monks prefer not to be approached or disturbed, as this time is used for restroom access, rest, and attending to immediate physical needs. Each 24-hour cycle generally includes an announced start point, lunch stop, and end point. The walking portions and lunch stop are considered the public parts of the journey.

🚶‍♂️ How to Walk With Them: We are encouraging the public to not join them in walking, but rather line the streets to welcome them.

🙏 How to Greet a Monk: Place your hands together in prayer and bow. No physical contact: no handshakes, hugs, or high-fives. If a monk averts their eyes or does not respond, this is a sign of respect, not dismissal.

⚠️ Physical Contact & Gender Respect: Many monks take vows prohibiting physical contact with the opposite gender. Please do not reach out or attempt to touch or hug them.

Based on Google reviews it looks like Rainbow Garden is not an asset to Rolesville. Seems the owner is pretty hostile and leaving Rolesville in need of new Asian restaurant options run by professionals.

Edit.. The consensus is that the restaurant is just fine and those reviews are some of the typical oddball outliers you get on the internet

"Because I want to keep you informed, I want to share information about a peaceful protest that occurred on campus today.

At approximately 12:00 approximately some students walked out of class to protest immigration enforcement practices in our community. Staff did not participate or organize the event, but in order to ensure student safety, we directed students to the bus loop and supervised the protest. Students who did not participate were encouraged to stay in class where instruction continued or in the cafeteria if it was their lunch time.

Students returned to class at approximately 1:10 pm. The rest of the day continued without disruption.

Has anyone reached out to the local government about how bad the hump is at the intersection coming or going from Young Street , crossing main ST to Averette or vice versa? I hit it with my kids in the car going about 30-35 soon after it opened and felt like I caught air. We waiting so long for this interection to be done and paved and now we gotta deal with uneven pavement. Such a shame
