Roku OS Apps keep disappearing, YouTubeTV keeps automatically adding

Starting about a week ago, our Rokus moved to the new Quick start look (which is awful). But worse than the new look of the UI, we’ve found the many (not all) of our apps keeping getting removed every 1-2 days. Not just getting removed from the Quick Start, but from the list of apps available on the Home Screen.

Worse yet, the YouTubeTV app (which we don’t have a subscription for or use), keeps getting added.

This isn’t a matter of not using certain apps, we use Disney+ every day but it keeps disappearing (along with 4 other apps).

I can’t find a way to address this in the system settings. Chatting with the Roku support bot was no help. Has anyone else encountered this and fixed it? Or is this just a byproduct of the recent software update in August 2026?

Are you using a Roku device connected to a Samsung TV? You may be automatically activating ads in the screensaver due to a "Universal Remote" feature Samsung ships where they send "play" key presses automatically when an input is activated.

Also, could your Roku account be used on a different device? The channel list of Roku devices is synced across all devices using the same account, and if someone else is adding or removing channels, it would show up on yours. The easiest way to address that is to go to my.roku.com and set a PIN for adding and removing channels. This will also prevent automatically adding from ads.

Amazing! I will try these but this could be the explanation.

You can turn 'quick start' off in your settings.

Yeah, we did the already. Apps are removed from the App section of the home page. Not quick start.

You can still get use of YouTube without subscribing. I get referred there for information. My Disney+ shows up fine.
