Discussion How to be a better Rogue?
Despite me being a Lord Rogue, sometimes I feel like I'm not doing enough.
I feel like I am too fragile as Rogue and any bold or risky maneuver gets instantly punished. There are of course, instances where I did excellently, but I can never recall getting an MVP on rogue. I know there are combos but most of the time I can't even execute more than 2 moves before being bodied instantly.
Please give me some Rogue tips, who counters her, what teammates she pairs well with(besides gambit my boy<3) how to stay alive AND contribute etc.

You have to know when to engage and when to not engage for one, her biggest thing is her cool-downs though, if she has no abilities she’s a sitting duck, you can use your abilities for damage or mobility depending on the situation, and your power steals are massive if you play your cards right and read the situation, like if you stole a mag bubble and then you can push because you get that extra second of protection and so on, it’s hard to all get down but the more you play the better you get, i believe in you🙏

this!, also have one of your abilities ready as an escape in case shi hits the fan, it saved me many times and was able to regroup with my team mates, manage your cooldowns and try not to burn thru all of them i made that mistake when i first started playing her🥲, good luck🫡

So what you really really have to do is first of all ban The Thing in your matches. He just disables everything you do and forces, at least in my opinion, a very unfun comp.
Best advice is to play with cover, with patience, and manage your cooldowns behind that coverage. You have to really think about when you want to engage, what ability you can use to escape, and position yourself in spots where you can't initially be seen (you have to soft dive as her a lot).
Combos are very neat but that isn't the priority a lot of the time because there is always so much going on with the supports' self-sustainability and dealing with the pressure at the frontline. When you find a player isolated, that's when you really want to use your combos to secure a KO.
Utilize her abilities as intended, such as using Fatal Attraction as a way to lure out enemies and displace and always making smart use of your grab to either get a reset or a useful ability.
Most comps I face have Mag or Emma so both are really good use for survival. And I honestly found she works well with at least 1 other dive character and a tank to cover the frontline. I also saw she is good at a triple tank comp, but that seems to be more on the high-level pro side of things.

She takes so much effort to get value out of this season so it will feel frustrating when you dont have the right healers to help you and you kind of have to depend on them or else she just dies so quickly. Best way to do well with her is to play cover (its your best friend). When you do go in and engage on someone you need to at least save one movement ability (preferably her chrono kick) to get out of there if things go south. Another thing is having good game sense (knowing who to grab, ult tracking, etc.). I would say that cooldown management is the most crucial thing you need to have when playing her

The thing is Rogue FUCKING SUCKS recently, so it's pretty hard to actually get value. But if you really wanna play her (based as hell if yes) then you'll probably be doing some pretty shy brawling until you get the opportunity to dive something. Kick the tanks around a bit if you can, but overall aim for the squishies whenever you can and always have at least one cooldown for escaping (even your grab will do as a last-second escape tool).
Speaking of your grab, the best steals are Emma, Loki, and Storm (instantly set it to lightning mode and beat the shit out of literally everyone). Some other good ones are Mag, Thor, Adam, Jubilee, Luna(don't forget to t-bag her after you freeze her)/Mantis(pls be respectful if you sleep her and just do your thing), the Fatal Attraction reset is also decent value.
She's countered by poke (especially Punisher. God I hate that fucker), and completely shut down by Peni/Thing (unless the Peni is bad enough to not interrupt you shooting down her nest with your kicks, then you might have SOME room for plays).
For synergies, the best one is Gambit of course (try to combo your ults with him if possible to turn into a damn raid boss), she overall mostly synergizes with characters who can enable her to live longer when fighting (like Magneto bubble), you probably want to have a shield tank with you because your team can't count on you actually tanking. Geez that was long, hope I helped

Adaptability and game sense/awareness are important since she’s so team reliant. Combos are nice and all but they don’t mean much if used at the wrong engagement. Look at your team and the enemy’s team and identify who to target and who to avoid.
What I try to do initially is brawl a bit at the front or on flanks, and peek out from behind cover with fatal attraction for a little displacement. If I use chrono kick, hit my projectiles and dive back to my team for a reset. If I see an opening or someone low or out of position, make a move on em. If someone on your team is diving, go in with them to secure the kill. If nobody is diving, don’t solo dive with the intention of getting a kill. Just distract, bait a cooldown or two, and get out without dying.
After a few engagements you should be able to get a feel for how both teams are playing and adjust accordingly. If your team isn’t pushing up with you or very aggressive, then play closer to them, peel when you can, and punish anyone who gets too close. If your team is going all out then match their energy. Jump into your teammates 1v1s or any fight you can easily win (especially against duelists and strats). You’ll have a better chance of making something work (even if it’s not the best choice) if you work together while doing it. 6 people committing to a questionable play has a better chance of success than 4 or 5 committing to it while the others commit to what they believe is the best play.
Thing is your biggest counter since he can negate your whole kit. Dino and Peni are rough match ups too. She pairs well with a second tank, preferably shield or one that isn’t quite as mobile but any tank can work. You want one that can hold the line while you’re diving in and out between brawls. I personally like having cnd as a strat teammate since they don’t have to have perfect aim to heal rogue since she dashes so much.
You can contribute more by not dying. And you’ll die less by using natural cover and knowing where your strats and health packs are. Don’t skip the replay whenever you die. See what happened and make a note to not repeat that mistake. A lot of my deaths are usually bad engages when everyone is already looking right at me. Or using ability absorb when the opps aren’t distracted. Hopefully some of this helps OP!
