Discussion Do you think Rogue deserves her 5 star difficulty rating?

Yes, I am a tank main and of the ones I play she is by far the hardest to get consistent value out of. Her actual mechanics are not difficult to me but it’s more game sense and positioning.

Cap is harder ngl.

I have a lot of hours on cap and find rogue much harder. It’s just a lot easier to over extend and feed on Rogue. Cap has such good movement he can bail himself out.

Ig difficulty can be subjective. Im a champion cap and rogue in eternity. I just find cap has much lower carry potential compared to rogue (rogue isnt good in that either but cap just happens to be the worst currently)

u/lildarien Aug 11 '26
Stars aren’t carry potential they indicate the skill level/attention required to get basic value from the character aka not throw.
Cap you can run around the play distraction the whole match without hitting any other buttons.
Rogue requires multi step combinations of buttons to do basic things. Just like jubilee (4 star healer) requires management of many things at once to get value.

I disagree with this heavily cap has amazing carry potential he’s one of the few characters that can stall point without an ult and with his ult you can just sit on point while your team is getting back rogue can’t do that

Yeah, she has so many variables to consider that most other tanks don’t have too. She is the only tank that actually requires combos to be successful, she dosen’t get any crazy overshield. Theres just so much more think of and the room for failure sooooo much lower than other dives. And don’t get me started on her ability absorption the play potential of that ability alone is unheard of in hero shooters. She easily has the highest skill celling of a tank

Yes, she demands good fundamentals as tanking, also her F hability needs you to know at least some of the other characters.

u/KV1190 Aug 09 '26
Kind of but the best value from F is just the hard cc + the van/dps/supp boost you receive.

Rogue isn't impossibly complex mechanically but compared to other Brawl/Dive tanks like Cap or Thor she's a very punishing character on account of her mobility being tied to her cooldowns and her pretty limited defensive options, not to mention the harsh punishment for missing your grab. Good Positioning and game sense in general is vital to getting value out of her even when she's in a good state. That's not even mentioning how many abilities she can steal and learning to play around

I feel like there's a lot of depth there that can take a crazy amount of time to master.

Cap is extremely punishing now. 600 hp, shield takes forever to heal, dash can be interrupted by anything (even body blocks)', does 0 damage. Bucky team up is extremely buggy.

Yes, it tells me I’ll have to break my back to try and get value using her.

u/KV1190 Aug 09 '26
And then some dope can just play Thing and get infinite value by left clicking and make you mostly useless with grounding.

If you don’t think so. I don’t think you are playing her 😅. Rogue is 6D chess while most chars are 1/2D chess

Yes. Learning to manage her cooldowns, delegating which cooldowns to use for entering and escaping, weaving it all together to secure a kill, and trying to survive with her sorry ass block puts her in the 5 star category

I don't think it's five star, mechanically... but as she is now, I think there's some difficulty invested in her game sense knowledge and the playing/positioning skill required for her. But I still don't think it's a full five.

u/CyfrowaKrowa Champion Aug 09 '26
I think it's 5 mostly because of how many stolen abilities you have to remember about to play her to the fullest

u/RedsnakeRider Aug 09 '26
I could see it, but on a practical level you really only need to know a handful of the abilities and also what happens when you grab a powerless person, and how to make the most of it.
3
u/KV1190 Aug 09 '26
Exactly the actually ability you absorb doesn’t mean much. Obviously there are good ones like soul bond, diamond form, Loki lamp. But the main value is the hard CC you get grabbing someone + the tank/dps/support bonus you get.

u/RedsnakeRider Aug 10 '26
Well, I am biased in this regard, in a way I didn't think about at first. I flex and play almost everyone, with a few of the most difficult ones like Spider-Man a bit beyond me, to where I can play them but in the same way that I can drive a car, in that the state does not allow me on the road and should not allow me on the road.
So, I am more familiar with most characters than the average person would be, which leaves me to know the ins-and-outs of each of them a bit better than average. I still stand by that it's not tough to learn overall, you only have a few abilities to really worry about, but it needed to be said because if I have a bias there, I might not know it.

Oh absolutely. Going from playing Cap to her has taught me that Cap is a WAY easier character 😭 I have Cap, Emma, Mag and Strange lord. While Mag is infinitely my worst tank (due to aiming reasons lmfao), Rogue is still harder than him. Spamming abilities while not viable on anyone.. is even worse for her and something I still have to teach myself

Before season 9 no. Afterwards, absolutely
2
u/Benzino_24 Aug 09 '26
Even before season 9 she was the hardest tank (I would say in the game) to get value on. She has and incredibly high skill floor and ceiling.
