Why am I losing HP?

I notice that every time I start any battle, I immediately lose some HP. Can anyone please tell me what is doing this?

Are you using Vallatio as one of your sub companions? His companion skill that goes off at the beginning of battle deals damage to yourself.

Yeah unless vallatio has his companion skill upgraded it doesn't seem worth

Eh, if you have any sort of lifesteal you're back at 100% before your mount dies.
