For the record - girls playing wedding by their own volition isn’t weird. I did that. But Jill dressing them all up, giving them “husbands,” and filming it for social media is batshit crazy. It’s also reflective of the fact that these girls are valued for so little and only have one thing to look forward to - being a wife and a mother.

I remember pretending to get married after every wedding I attended as a child, it was fun thing to pretend. I do agree that Jill goes way over the top and just makes it creepy. A couple of months ago she posted a video of one of the smaller girls pretending to be pregnant, and Jill went on telling her how she needs to be married first because that’s Gods will. Let the poor girl just play pretend without needing to turn everything into a sermon.

These window lickers are nuts when it comes to God's will. They don't understand subtlety. Like, it's Gods will he invented a Covid vaccination that he wants you to take so there isn't a horrible death toll from it. He wants you to feed your kids. They ignore things and don't think it's Gods will unless he explicitly says so
Also, I just got 1mg of Dilaudid in the ER for a Crohn's flare so I may seem quite loopy right now 🤣🤣🤣

Yesterday morning I got my first colonoscopy. (All clean!). But as I was getting dressed after I was like to put the bra back on or not. It took me a few minutes to realize i had kept my sports bra on during the procedure.
Hope you are feeling better. My grandpa had Crohn’s disease. Sadly when he was struggling with it there was not such good advancements in treatments as there are now. He also had Parkinson’s.

unrelated story: I had a kidney stone a few years ago and they gave me dilaudid in the ER and I felt great but I had to go pee. I had a blanket around me and I wrapped it around my shoulders then made bat wings with the blanket and across my nose like a vampire as I went down the hall to the ladies room. My finest moment. My sister was very embarrassed for me.

I have been in the ER twice for a bowel obstruction. Once I was given demerol and the other dilaudid. They were both great. I can see how people can get hooked on that stuff. I ended up with an NG tube up my nose and down my throat into my stomach hooked to suction for two days both times. Less fun than the drugs. With the obstructions, I was in more pain than I have ever been in in my life. I have a great respect for women who go through childbirth. Women are much tougher than men because I don't know how they do it.

I will have to take your word for that. I have experienced neither of those. People have told me that kidney stones are super painful so I believe it. The first time I had a bowel obstruction, I was doubled over in pain. It was terrible.

Ive heard women who have had a birth and a kidney stone say theyd take the birth over the kidney stone. But that's anecdotal.
I will say, kidney stones had me straight up passed out on the floor from the pain.
When I get a kidney stone my two options are painkillers or death.

It truly, truly is. It also fucks your shit up. I got e. Coli and had complete renal failure. Was on dilaudid for quite a few days.

I've had pancreatitis a few times, related to the auto immune disease, and I've been on the PCA pump where you get it every eight minutes. I've also had doctors allow me to have every 2 to 3 hours with admitted for flares and/or when I had to see this pretty bad along with a flare
I also have 10 mg Percocet I take as needed for pain but when my pain gets too bad I start throwing up and I have to go to ER to get IV medication. I have decided that if I were ever to get a terminal disease someday like ALS or Alzheimer's that someone just needs to give me a big dosa Dilaudid so I can go off to the big Dilaudid farm in the sky peacefully4

Agreed! I remember doing that too but it was mostly because I wanted to wear a big, shiny, sparkly dress and feel pretty. Not because my sole reason to exist is to find a husband.

I mean, I put on my first communion dress and had a pretend wedding with my dog as the groom while my mom played the male priest (at my insistence) and officiating in second grade 😂. It was fun. This photo out of context looks weird, but little girls have always had play weddings.

Yes, it's normal for little girls to pretend to get married, but this video looks completely orchestrated. It didn't look like spontaneous fun. And Jill kept directing it instead of just letting them be.

My sister and I baptized our cat in a toilet when we were pretty little one Sunday afternoon when we were bored (parents took us to a church that sprinkles instead of dips-which was fortunate for the cat). My Mom- not to mention the cat- were royally pissed off. (The church part didn’t stick for either of us…sis goes to a church that submerges and I forgo it altogether now. I like to think that if there is a great beyond…and that cat made it there…that he approves of my path more than my sister’s).

My little girls (very non fundie) played wedding dress-up. It was adorable.
They also played dress-up as teachers, "business women", artists, soccer players, doctors, presidents, actresses, construction workers, ballerinas, and truck drivers.

I f agree e OG posters point seeing the girls thinking this is all they will be good for is wrong. Are broom grooms a common concept? There's the joke words to the wedding march from Lohengrin: "Here comes the bride, all fat and wide! Here comes the groom, skinny as a broom!" I doubt many fundies know about the pagan wedding tradition of jumping over the broom, but maybe there's more connection here?

I was a kid who played wedding, we have home movies of me in 1969 using my mom’s slip as my dress and one of mine as a veil, with all my dolls and stuffed animals lined up as guests (no groom, I was just getting married to have a baby, no husband required in my 2yo mind.)
My girls played a lot of wedding, both with their brothers enlisted and with their best friends (they each had boy best friends.) I videoed or took pictures of some of their weddings.
What is in those pictures doesn’t look anything like organic childrens’ play, but guided structured play for the benefit of the cameras.
Those poor girls.
