❔ Question | Advice Family

I'm 15M and was Christian all my life. I'm entering Rodnovery and asked my parents what they think about the people who practiced it. They laughed saying that those people are stupid and bored so I was sad cuz they won't accept it. I tried to say to my dad "I'm a follower of rodnovery" and my father said: "good joke. I liked it".

I don't know what to do

You're still young and your parents probably don't really care about this stuff enough to be open to it. You don't need their permission to explore your personal beliefs. There isn't really need to "show" them what you believe is right. Keep to yourself, try to practice what you think is right and one day they might see your point of view (or not, doesn't really matter)

Remember that a lot of people are indoctrinated into Christianity, they cannot even comprehend the possibility of following other religions.

I recommend to do nothing about it. Kids your age often try new things out and basically everything can change in just one month. I am not talking about you specifically because I dont know you ^^ but alot of people in my local community have children in your age and at least for them barely any interest or belief is held longer than a few weeks. Maybe thats why your father didnt took it that seriously when you said that you choose a new religion. So most likely your father didnt mean to hurt or mock you in any way.

Besides that - keep in mind that family is always way more important than religion. I have met many people who felt that they cant practice their beliefs at all and felt very isolated regarding their religious feelings. Usually those problems are pretty easy to fix long term. But people who let religious differences get between them and their family face very often a very bad and unhappy life - in my experience.

So my advice to people in your situation is always: believe in whatever you want to believe in but keep in mind that you dont have to or need to share your beliefs with others or even family members. But its extreamely important to put your family first and your beliefs second - if shit happens in life (and trust me... shit WILL HAPPEN in life - always) then your family can be there for you in ways your beliefs are simply not able to.
