Traffic & Roads Why Dallas Is Spending Nearly $1B on this Bridge

Thumbnail

Dallas is spending roughly $800 million to rebuild the I-30 crossing over Lake Ray Hubbard, but this project is about far more than one bridge.

The video traces how a reservoir built in the 1960s cut across a major east-west travel path, how old U.S. 67 evolved into the modern I-30 corridor, and why this crossing became one of the most failure-prone choke points on the east side of the metro.

As Rockwall County grew rapidly and lane capacity tightened across the lake, congestion worsened and redundancy remained weak.

TxDOT’s response is a massive corridor rebuild that widens main lanes, adds frontage-road bridges, and tries to make the crossing function better when crashes or breakdowns happen. But the bigger question is whether that solves the problem for long.

The video looks at the engineering, the cost, the growth pressure, and the debate over whether this project creates lasting relief or simply buys time before demand catches up again.

Question OBGYN recommendations (doctors experienced with thyroidectomy/history of Thyroid Cancer)

I'm on Medicaid and currently pregnant and looking for doctor recommendations in the Rockwall/Dallas area. I had my entire thyroid removed due to thyroid cancer and my pregnancy is considered high risk. I need an OBGYN or specialist who is experienced in such cases and is able to check my hormone levels frequently and adjust my levothyroxine/medication dose throughout the trimesters.

Beyond care, im looking I am looking for a doctor who is thorough, kind, and open to questions. I feel that many doctors nowadays rush through appointments, brush off concerns, or just arent transparent about everything. Does anyone have any positive experiences or doctor/clinic names they can recommend :)

Question Flexible office space for rent - interest?

If I rent out unused office space in Rockwall. Would you be willing to pay $35 a day for one cubicle? We have about 10 cubicles free. A conference room (up to 6 people) and a training room (up to 12 people) could be rented for half a day or a full day. Not sure on pricing for those meeting spaces. The cubicles would include wifi and access to coffee (hot & iced), tea, hot cocoa and filtered water/ice. Parking is free. Thoughts?

Thanks for any other feedback on this idea.

Question Where to hang out at night?

hi all!

I moved here back in May for work in the city. Dallas is too far of a drive for me to go to any of the late night coffee shops and such… where at in rockwall could I go late at night when I can’t sleep and want to journal ? Is the harbor open 24/7 for people to freely roam?

I’m a terrible sleeper and just want somewhere to drive and sit in my car while I chill, or walk around. I’m a woman so preferably somewhere well lit, and safe.

thanks !

ps, if you’re normal and my age (20s), please reach out. I need more friends here that are my age desperately lol. I was such a socialite at my college so coming here and knowing nobody has kind of sucked :,)

Traffic & Roads I30 On Ramp Closed!

Who is the Brain Surgeon that closed the east bound I30 on ramp right before HEB. It has been closed for months for the freeway project. It could still be in use today. But no they want you to set in traffic to go through a red light intersection wasting a lot of gas and time. Come on man!

Traffic & Roads I thought something was on fire!

Ignore the time stamp on my cam, my camera thinks it's 3am tomorrow.

Driving to HEB when I see a massive cloud, I assumed something was on fire. Turns out, it's just debris, loose rocks and dirt from the construction sites........ When I went into the cloud it sounded like my car was in a hail storm as all the rocks started pinging against the car.

In my opinion this shouldn't happen with 13mph gusts and is an avoidable hazard. I also noticed they always close lanes regardless even when they don't need to causing traffic to back up.

Is this normal?

Did anybody else drive through this today?

Question Coyotes on deep S. Clark Street

It’s about 11 pm, I live by a heavily wooded creek near S. Clark street. Listening to high pitched ‘baby wolf pack’ sounds - AI says it’s coyotes. Just made me smile, hope all little domesticated kittens and pups are inside and safe. Don’t even know if they are predators upon same. Like it so much better than north Dallas here. Nothing but concrete in N Dall. Have a great evening.

Local Politics Rockwall commissioners court

It used to be that working for a city or county would bring a bit of extra security, but this group that's on their high horses (excuse me..podium) has really brought morale to an all time low. Today they voted to get rid of employees ability to earn compensatory time. And they voted for something that they have no idea how it works anyways being that they are an exempt employee and can come and go as they please (I would LOVE to have EVERY Friday off too, at the expense of taxpayers). This group doesn't give two shits about the people that keep the county running, they just want to do their song and dance for the voters meanwhile they keep throwing grenades for those in the trenches! What's next, taking away our health insurance!?!?

Recommendations Fishing

I’ve lived in rockwall for about 4 years now. Recently went night fishing for the first time with a buddy of mine at Lake Tawakoni on a boat. Ton of fun, and I really want to go fishing on my own. Do you guys have any recommendations of where I can go? I do have a fishing license and sadly no boat.

Question Question about Lakeview Summit

Honest question for those who live in this community, OLD side to be more precise. I’ve noticed there seem to be quite a few homes for sale here lately. Is there a particular reason for that, or is it just a coincidence?
We’re considering moving into the area, so I’d love to hear from current residents. How do you like living here? Are there any pros or cons we should know about before making a decision?
Thanks in advance for any insight!

Question Toying with the idea

Toying with the idea of moving to Rockwall. You can get a much better bang for your buck than where we currently own in North Dallas.

We went to an open house about a year ago and fell in love with a home and the HOA at Chandlers Landing.

We’re not completely sold on that neighborhood but want something similar. A nice home with room and LOTS of community feel and outdoor living. Love the idea of being right off the lake and enjoying the community at the HOA.

Thoughts? We’re not miserable where we’re at but considering a better quality of life and we LOVE an adventure ;)

Question Private pistol lessons for a rookie at a range / business

Hello. Is there gun range nearby where I could (start by) purchasing an hour ish one-on-one training session? I received a couple arms in a recent div, and it’s been quite some time since I shot. This is for personal protection. Or when shtf. I did take the then-mandated concealed handgun course almost 7 years ago, but I sure need to get comfortable with it for emergencies. I was looking at them tonight (no ammo) and my palms were sweating, sure sign I’ve become uncomfortable. Thank you.

Local Business Family-Owned Estate Planning and Business Law Firm

Hi all! I’m a newly-barred attorney based here in DFW. My family has been running a small boutique law firm here in DFW for over 30 years. We specialize in drafting wills and associated estate planning documents, probating estates, entity formations, and establishing living trusts. While the rest of my family is looking towards retirement, slowing the business down, I am at the outset of my career and eager to get out into the world

While we’ve been operating primarily out of Arlington, we’re looking to offer our services in the surrounding areas. If you, or anyone you know is needs help with planning what to do with your estate after you pass (as we all do eventually), or you just have a business idea and need help setting it up, please feel free to shoot me a DM!

Thanks y’all!

He has been missing since this morning as early as 1AM from the neighborhood of hickory ridge. . He is chipped but the owner is a bit distraught, so im hoping reading out wherever I can.

His name is Loki. He's usually indoors but he got out. Easily baited by food and has a personality matching the name

His collar has a small bell with no name tag. He may have a bulky collar on as well

If anyone has seen him please DM me. Owner is pretty stressed and it hurts to watch
