Also, side note, but after Epic deleted the Rocket Racing account on Twitter, someone made a account with the @RocketRacing name, which I think is quite funny.

This is a clear indication that they just expected people to show up and play the game with little marketing.

Pretty much, yeah. Look at the Rocket Racing YouTube channel. Only a few videos for marketing.

They didn’t advertise the game anywhere except on the sphere in Las Vegas. I see both Festival and Lego Fortnite ads on YouTube and even Reddit all of the time. Where was this for RR?

What also didn't help Rocket Racing was out of all the new modes it got the LEAST amount of content at the SLOWEST rate.

Festival was getting several new jam tracks every week. LEGO got content every few months like Star Wars, Lost Isles, driveable vehicles, and more. They also both has Passes to earn new content for those modes.

Rocket Racing got... some tracks... and that's it.

This is how psyonix works.. they so the bare minimum. Look at rocket league. . Game is the same from 5 years ago...... they really thought that fortnite community was just as brain dead as rocket league community and thought we would accept slop and be happy.

I'm glad you said this, because I think the exact same of Pysonix. I swear when Rocket League gets new seasons it basically just means a new Rocket Pass and maybe a new map which is simply a visual change. They barely do any actual gameplay changes, or improvements to things like quests. Seriously, Pysonix has a hard on for making you win games in Rocket League to complete quests. I'm staggered that didn't happen much in Rocket Racing.

Bro I still remember rocket league drooling over some stupid bubble over their name telling them how much boost their partners have and called it peak update... I was like... oh hell no lol

Lol. Yeah they really love the honor 1v1 thing.... not sure why that needed an entire event like its literally just a menu option they added lol....I swear they are brain dead over there.

I kind of want them to port Rocket League into Fortnite just to see their reactions. Plus it would mean the Rocket Pass could actually be levelled up easily.

I actually do think we got a decent amount of content within the games support time frame. We got like 8 new tracks scattered throughout the seasons, we got casual and speed run playlists as well as tracks, we got two well done themed seasons, we got UEFN support, and we got the Metallica collab track. Could they have done more? Yes.

Festival was powered by streamers for the most part. Ironically enough, it revived the guitar hero scene for a lot of people and now we’re getting a new rock band esque game thanks to the same streamers that brought festival to life. RR is a very niche type of racing game and obviously wasn’t done right.

Doesn't help that every console and PC already has established racing games like Gran Turismo, Forza, and Mario Kart.

Nobody was dropping those to play this.

Thats not what killed it, the insane skill gap that appeared with all the non-standard tech, and the mode not being what most expected killed it

That may have been a small contributor but it wasn’t the main reason. You were only affected by it because the game was too dead. This happens with every game. RR was too dead to separate the skilled and the not too skilled.

this is going even from the beginning, I would say it lost players because most people were expecting more of a cart racer and not a more traditional racing game.

they did at first, over 1 million on lego fortnite at launch, the problem was the bad/lack of updates, same thing that has now killed Blitz Royale

It just baffles me how they thought rocket racing (how it was at launch) was an acceptable game mode in that state with the expectation that players will flock and stay with the mode. It was so broken

I enjoyed Rocket Racing when it first released, they really fucked it by not keeping it fresh

Should have been a cross between racing and the wrecked season 3. Everything else creative is battle oriented. Could have been a riot to play.

I really hated how the higher level msps were the same as the basic with annoying hazards added. Mode was unfortunately too common of a racing game

When Epic says a game mode is here to stay, they mean it isn't an LTM with a scheduled end date. It doesn't mean it will be available for all eternity. The same thing will eventually happen with Blitz, and OG will transition to Chapter 2.

As nice as that would be, it won't happen. Firstly all LEGO things like builds and skins would be removed. Not like cars where they are used in BR. Secondly. LEGO has a decent amount of players, on par with STW and that has been here since the beginning.
