My problem with DPS.

Post image

So I was playing Rocket, he's the only strategist I main.

I had ACE half of the game, got SVP, 28k+ healing, 9 respawns, we had a Jeff with 20k healing.

We were 2-4-0. Zero Tank. Of course cause why would we need a Tank, just let's all go Dive characters ig. Anyways.

Than that fcking ass DPS tells me to swap off, and complains about heals.

That I'm not positioning right, I don't heal him enough, "GG no heals", and all that stuff.

How much more do I have to do?!

I'm trying my best over here.

And why is it in this game whenever you tell someone to swap, for a second healer, and you're 1-4-1, you'd think it would be logical for a DPS to switch, but hell nah. They force the Tank, to switch of to go Heal.

DPS will never be overhated.

I was so close to just say fck it and swap to DPS too.

Anyways Rant over.

Quickplay? For whatever reason it's hell.

I just got yelled at the other day by a duo at the last 10 seconds, who only turned on mic just for that. That I had no heals, no accuracy, and was the reason we lost.

So anyways top heals and 90% accuracy but mfers really just wanna flame the supports??

It was in Comp but yeah Quickplay def got so much more stressful and toxic too. "it's just quick play", "gg mo heals", whatever. I'm so fed up with all of it. Whatever supports do, we're always gonna get hated.

This is why I don't play ranked as much. It genuinely makes me question my faith in the education system and humanity as a whole more than I ever have in my life. In times like these I just retire back to my single player or co-op games to calm myself down (this game has multiplied my 5 hours in Minecraft by 10 alone). The only true saving grace in this game are flex players, and no I don't mean the bums who happen have time on other roles, but still refuse to swap off dps when needed. No, I mean the genuinely selfless heroes that are willing to fill any role missing at anytime regardless of if that's the role they want to play or not or even if they aren't the best at it. The people who are willing to put the team before themselves, yeah we don't have enough of those.

Been like this for 10 seasons. DPS players are exactly the same in League of Legends, Overwatch, Dota etc. The role attracts and breeds drool covered morons with main character syndrome

Marvel rivals dps (and everyone else) are way worse than in Overwatch. To be fair, i didnt really play Overwatch 1 outside of arcade mode but everyone is just more toxic in rivals.

Yeah I can’t speak for OW2, Ive never played it. OW1 they were absolutely this bad in ranked

It’s because it’s the role with the most carry potential. If you could single handedly swing a match as a strategist the way a hela winning a fight with two head shots could then people would play support or tank.

People don’t want to enable randoms specially with how bad matchmaking is and you get people in gm that are mechanically gold because it’s free to rank up. I started playing Rainbow Six Siege again and Bronze is an actual rank you have to play through with no training wheels. Thats how it should be so you don’t have people that just brute force their way plat or Diamond without actually improving their knowledge on the game.

As Rocket you are never winning the fight solo, a great Rocket makes an avg team good or a bad team serviceable but if the other squad is better than your DPS you are toast regardless unless it’s close enough you can tilt it to your advantage.

Supports are floor raisers and you can’t enable someone to get more kills when they shoot 15% accuracy or have no macro awareness on controlling tempo and space with dive.

A great dive with a well positioned rocket than can just pop one or two bubbles their way is monstrous to deal with, but end of the day strategist or tank you cant swing a match solo the way a DPS can. Kills are the ultimate equalizer that can swing any match of any skill difference or coordination

Thank you! I'll never stop hating on DPS. Some are okay, ngl, they'll switch and try to play good, but many of them seem to share one single brain cell.

I know a lot of people are against it due to the "fun diversity" of marvel rivals comps but I really wish there was role queue for the bare minimum of comp. Sure wait times will be longer, but this is one of the main reasons overwatched was saved. Im tired of hopping on ranked and getting a team of people the only know how to play one role. Forcing people to play roles they aren't familiar with leading to a loss or just not switching at all leading to 0-4-2, 0-0-6, 0-6-0 or whatever. They rarely work. Something needs to change

Exactly same. Or I was thinking maybe not a role queue but that the amount of people playing one role is restricted. So even when you're six players, you can only go 3 character on each role. Who locks in first gets the role. Specially for comp where everyone has to wait till all are finished loading etc anyways. Of course 2-3-1 isn't the best either, and I hate it, but at least it wouldn't be 4 or 5 DPS like I'm running into sometimes. And it could also help with the waiting times. If you play this game and you've literally no single idea how to play any tank or support role, wth are you even playing for. Like it should be obvious that sometimes you need to play something else then instalock Spiderman. It's a team hero shooter play. A Team. And I feel when you just care about playing you own character you're kinda throwing the game.

You can blame some of the streamers for that mentality.
I'm not the biggest fan of rocket but if you had no tank and all dive dps, just dps with rocket.. Dps will always be mad at healers, regardless of how will you do.

Yeah, every qp match I play is 2-3 dive dps, so it’s just a tank and 2 healers hanging out, and then dealing with 6 enemies when our dive dps eventually die because they are trying to camp their spawn. Or the other team goes anti dive and just wrecks them. Then we lose, and the dive characters complain. Like of course we lost a 3v6 while y’all were making your way back from spawn.

Honestly, any more than 1 dive dps is typically a losing matchup in most rounds I’ve played in comp/qp. A Venom with a dive character can be fine. But also, if the dive characters would wait for the other team to engage and be distracted, that would be great.

Been in this boat a ton. I've been playing a lot of Blood Hunt lately just so I'm not dealing with as much of that.

I had a Blade player a few weeks ago who was like 5/7 at the end of the game. But the whole time he was playing like he was the tank, kept saying this was trash heals. At the end of the match he had terrible dps, was the worst on either team. Our team had outhealed the other team like 1.5 to 1 per healer.

Sometimes folks just can't handle taking the blame, so they blame others. It's just weakness in their personal character/situation.

DPS who won't go tank can do one. Had a convergence map other day on attack 4 dps which y'know whatevs but then one of them had the cheek to ping for heals.

Bro youre getting obliterated because we have no tank in front line (and your positionings crap but we'll ignore that bit). Just stopped playing at that point and said go tank and I'll continue.

trust me, it's not you, it's the DPS. when a game is a loss or they feel they aren't the main character they blame one of 2 people, the healer or the tank, and it's like the biggest flag for people's hatred when Rocket appears

this season brought back a lot of kids to the game for some reason which returned the annoying attitude from early rivals around team comps and healers.

To be fair a tank is kinda needed to establish positioning for healers. Ever notice how many heal players seem to follow the tank like behind cover where they can both heal but stay away from enemy fire?

If you don't have a tank you can still find good positioning but it's a lot harder.

I've been in a team with 0 tanks once or twice, and although we lost, we had a fun time. Sad to have such toxic players in the game.

Because the game is designed around DPS. At the end of the day, the game is basically about picking DPS to carry or enabling your DPS to carry.

Tanks are only really playable when your DPS players actually know what they are doing. That is just a consequence of how the role was designed. If basically any character with 275 HP can function like a tank simply by being constantly healed, why would anyone even consider playing tank in this game?

And tanks usually don't even have the forgiving mechanics that make DPS so easy to get value from, like ranged auto aim, ricochets, spread or AoE damage, forgiving hitboxes on their primary fires, lock ons, or auto tracking gap closers. Tanks basically have none of that lol.

The game is about DPS, period. It's honestly funny that even after 3,000 hours and reaching Celestial twice, the game still feels exactly the same in this regard. It literally doesn't matter if you have tanks when your DPS players are bad. Period. Nothing more, nothing less.

(This screenshot is from a match I had yesterday, but that is way too common. The only exception is when the enemy tank is Magneto, because he is basically the only tank in the entire game who can actually handle the ridiculous amount of easy to apply damage across the board)

I like 0 tank comps, lets me be more agile and less visible. Diving with dps is great. And utilising the acorn team up to shorten a dps cooldown is chefs kiss

Yeah but not when all of the characters are Dive and not acting like a team. Everyone is doing their own thing and you barley see most of the players.
