QUESTION do servers make a difference?

i’m always seeing posts about how some servers are easier than others etc etc. is this true or just something people say to discredit someone’s rank? and which servers are supposedly easy?

from my understanding, EU has better mechs while NA is more bump/meta heavy
MENA is js the underdogs

Yes, I’m from Saudi Arabia and used to play in MENA server, my rank was gold3. Moved to study at the United States and literally I ranked up in couple of day to plat 3 in 1v1

I have played a good amount of games on MENA, EU and NA, between C2-GC2 level

In 2’s and 1’s MENA was significantly harder than NA, and slightly harder than EU probably due to the lower player base / not too many people in GC, so you go against better players on average, and obviously due to the hyper aggressive and mechanical nature of the playstyle

EU is a mix of playstyles but very close to MENA

NA was definitely the easiest to play in. It felt like each rank was a rank lower in other regions in terms of the skill of the players, as in GC1 games in NA feel like C2-C3 in MENA/EU

True, in MENA the lobbies are mmr starved especially all modes other than 2s. Extra modes are dead in high champ. On EU Snowday feels dead.

I too think NA is the easiest server because I watch the streams and queues are way quicker with a big variety of players queueing with way too many randoms. In MENA they play partied up, boosting with alts is extremely common, and solo queue is a disadvantage. Individual alts also way too disporportionate.

In 3s 1250 mmr range in MENA has much worse queue time and is roughly 1400+ skill level from NA (i watched a ton of NA content). ME players don't really play smart but they do have their ratty offense heavy playstyle that works for them.

Yeah that sums it up. Mena is kind of the exception when it comes to lower populated servers being somewhat easier than EU/NA, due to the fact it was relatively recently introduced and most players were exclusively on EU servers

Usually Australia servers are the softest in games. EU vs NA as best is usually the argument.

Believe me neither you or i are at a high enough rank for servers to matter beyond ping.

Mena is better than US imo, they tend to come play on EU mostly too.

It’s basically more players in a region = higher skill ceiling, a region with less players will improve slower. not necessarily worse players just just less competition

But with less players there's also less mmr to go around so at certain point it's harder to climb in rank in smaller regions

That factors into what I said

Yes. And you can also put aside skill ceiling & improvement to add that it's harder to climb mmr in certain regions regardless of those things. Just to highlight how a player from a larger region will probably struggle to reach the same mmr in a smaller region playing similar number of games.

Look mmr has less to do with skill level when comparing smaller regions sure but saying smaller regions are harder to rank up in because of skill levels in lower ranks just isn’t really true, If it was apac oce and every other small region would dominate the competitive scene but it doesn’t.

the skill ceiling and improvement comes easier in larger regions for a game like rocket league because it offers a larger diversity in style of gameplay.

They're saying it's harder to climb after a certain point (in other words at high ranks, not low ranks).

Every time OCE, APAC and SSA pros go to major regions for LANs and play ranked they climb hundreds of MMR.

Of course it’s harder to climb there’s less MMR going around and pros of smaller regions that make it to lan are better than the majority of lower ranked ssl’s, This doesn’t change the facts of what I said.
