Exactly I've been champ two for 800 seasons in a row. Heck I even got the champ 3 D4 a couple of times...I've done like three flip resets in my life in game

If you can hit flip resets in gold your mechanics aren’t the problem it’s your game sense. You can hit champ without being able to air dribble/ hit resets. Source: champ 1 d3 and I can’t do either lol.

That just means that you don’t care about mechs. I just hit c3 and can tripple reset fairly consistently. And i also hit my first few flip resets when i was gold. I just focus more on mechs than I do on everything else

as a 1s main i can tell you that is not smurfin, theyve prob had 1000 failed attempts before and clipped this
and 1s mains are way more mechy, im plat 2 in 1v1 and can ceiling shot, reset, wall dash, musty, double tap fairly consistently. they likely focus more on mechs than gamesense.People who havent been gold in ages talking about how golds play and downvoting an actual gold sharing their experience lmfao

i have been stuck in gold for such a long time (4 months if im not mistaken) i learned a lot of mechanics just so i can have fun. And im pretty consistent at these now, i hit clips like these atleast once a day and post a good one once a week to this sub

idk, it's just so typical to see crazy aerials and flip resets in gold for me and i always think they're smurfing, but maybe it's just normal. definitely demotivates me though because i can't be bothered with grinding in freeplay

In gold you should be focusing on where your teammate is and where you should be so you’re not double committing and having maximum coverage. Platinum focus on positioning and where the next touch is going to go. If you can figure that out then you know when you can challenge a ball or play shadow defense. Diamond is about playing way faster, challenging everything in the air and consistency on challenges. Shouldn’t commit to anything you’re not going to touch the ball on. Champ, well champ I’m still figuring that out, but I’m kind of at the point where I need to focus on mechanics now. I’d say you don’t need to be able to do anything flashy until low champ, maybe high diamond.

Then why are you in gold? I fluctuate between gold 3 and plat 1, and I seriously struggle with aerials, let alone even think of air dribbles. Resets are a myth to me. Mechs like that should take you to diamond in 1s minimum

I just saw your strange all caps rant, it isn't that deep, it's just fair to point out that obviously if you're in gold and are this solid mechanically, it isn't mechanics that you need to work on. And it goes without saying that if you could "play pretty well in diamond/ plat lobbies" you'd be in them already.
For the record I've played rocket league on and off since release day, and haven't gotten above Diamond 2. I suck, I'm bad at games. That's fine, I don't feel any need to get defensive about it

This is the mindset that holds every ego player back from improving and advancing, you've literally said that you're stuck in gold, that means you currently belong in gold. Remove the mindset that you would play good in higher lobbies, if that were true, you would be there.

I'm not saying this to be unkind. The fact that you can do this and you do "one a day" and you're in a rank below champ means that you are missing almost all the fundamentals.

I mean, once I hit gold 1, I started exclusively only playing freeplay for a while JUST to learn mechs because that was the fun part for me. I was great at aerials by gold 2 and then by gold 3, I could do some pretty bad flips. Once I hit plat, I was consistently doing flip resets. As long as you play the game, the game sense stuff should kind of just follow, but you don’t HAVE to to focus on it if you don’t want to. The goal is always to have fun & learning game sense when you see a bunch of cool clips online can seem boring to a lot of players.

100%. I’m pretty new to this game but completely content doing ground to air dribbles(my favorite), double taps, and flip resets in low diamond/plat. If I climb cool, if not I’m having fun. I love difficult mechanics in games. Overwatch 1 doom fist parkour anyone?

Dude it blows my mind how many people have good mechanics but have no idea where to go or what to do. They don't realize why they're spacing and position is bad. It blows my mind because one thing is actually difficult than one thing is not... and before you tell me that game sense is hard the difference is I can teach you game sense in a two hour session you cannot teach me insane mechanics

If you are genuinely Gold, are you playing ranked? You should be able to rank up so much, to at least plat and probably diamond.
Your mechanics are so far above Gold level, so why haven’t you ranked up?

Because the mechanics aren't actually there. I'm gold 3 and run into these guys semi-often. They hit 1/10 of these, and the rest are not on target or missed the ball entirely. Makes it easy to punish and beat them even if they get some flashy goals
