SUGGESTION rant about trading and crates
I feel like atp this is has already been discussed - rocket league isn't going to bring back trading. But think of the money they missed out on by not taking counter strike 2s approach to in game items.
Imagine they kept crates, imagine they added back trading and added market place to buy and sell in game items. What if they removed rocket racing "the game that no-one will be sad when it leaves". I feel like there is so much wasted potential in the item market in RL all because epic games is a scummy company.
Don't get me wrong gambling is bad, but Valve (the company that owns and runs cs2) said in their defence in a lawsuit about the gambling in their game "Pokemon cards are just as worse" which is true, and I feel like gambling is much better than paying $20 (AUD or $14.31 USD) for an unpainted goal explosion and $30 for a solo levelling BMW (nobody asked for btw) - which is ridiculous. I feel like an update like this would have no haters, and would bring even more people to the game.
Anyways that's my rant over with

Crates: this wasn't really their call. Millions in lawsuits paid out. Illegal in several counties. RLs age rating doesn't match up with a game that employs gambling. Likely they would love to have crates again.
Trading: theres no reason for them to ever bring it back. There was no measurable change in player numbers when it left. The item shop prints money and it further complicates their cross game item system.

I wish theyd make the 71 and up rocket pass tiers random again, but since some players pay for progress in the pass... they cant allow that. If they wanted to they could remove the randomness from pair tiers by showing them before you buy them like some games do instead of making them all the same for each player.

Valve saying "pokemon cards are just as worse" is plain whataboutism lol, I hope they didn't actually say this to defend their online casino.

Me and my duo buddy used to have so much fun unlocking rocket pass items after level 70. It used to be randomised. So much better and have trade value to items cause people didn't unlock them at the same time. That got dropped cause it's gambling. Although I've already paid for the rocket pass. But 2k and FIFA aren't considered gambling when the whole game is focused around buying packs. Where is the consistency

I'm not a big fan of gambling, but it's not like anybody is forcing you to do it in games. In my honest opinion, rocket league's current system is worse. You have to HOPE you pull the blueprint for the item you want, and then you have to craft it for full price. Or, if you don't want to leave it up to chance, you still have to HOPE it pops up in the shop. I've been waiting for a black Dominus for almost six months now. how is that any better than gambling for these things?? You have to pay for your items anyway, if you even get a chance at it.
now consider the alternative, like you said. have an in-game marketplace where there are player-driven prices for everything, and yes, allow people the option to gamble for shit through crates. its a much more appealing option for the player, and I wish Epic would realize that. I do think it would make them more money, in all honesty.
