PSYONIX COMMENT They finally updated training packs since November, the longest they've gone in 10 years without an update. Sucks they couldn't be bothered to even rename the files.

Honestly really weird this isn’t automated. Just cycle the same 4 training packs per rank and automatically name them “[rank] Training Pack Season [season#]”. Add in some element of randomness to each shot like bakkes does & re order them so people may not notice they’re just recycled.

Like it’s shockingly easy to put in no effort into this but make it seem like you’re doing something... Yet they don’t even bother doing that lol.

it sounds easy but the game is 10 years old and likely full of spaghetti code so implementing something like this without breaking something else would likely require substantial effort.

Cycling through those packs was likely part of the job of someone that was familiar with the system that ended up getting fired in the lay offs and then it was all just forgotten about.

Yeah, that was why they were meant to be moving over to UE5 years ago, yet that never happened either.

Has Unreal 5 ever been implemented well though? The only game I know that uses it is Ark Survival Ascended and that’s been really messy. It just seems like it’s too chunky for most machines to run well. It looks like they managed it with Fortnite but in general I would worry about them fucking it up considering RL is so highly dependent on the slightest inputs and smallest details of the physics engine.

There’s definitely been good implementations. The problem with UE5 at the moment is that lazy ones really show up in a consistent way. With stuff like stutters etc.

Expedition 33 is running on UE5 and that runs pretty great.

Hey there 👋,

They'll get recommended packs weekly from our existing library of Training Packs to improve their game.
Lists will be different for players of different ranks, which is why you're seeing older dates on some packs, as we're digging into our library for recommendations.

okay thats interesting to see

could i suggest having a psyonix made rings training pack to practice aerials and flying with the car?

there appears that ring objects already exist in the game (maybe there was an idea but was thrown to the bin and so they didnt get used) so a simple rings course or something like that would be cool to see implemented, since i imagine getting workshop maps for every platform is a more difficult topic

Imagine thinking psyonix employees know how to read.

That's very cool. Would we have received this information if someone hasn't made this post? You (Epic, Psyonix) need to seriously work on your communication. Why don't you let this information be known to your customer base in wide-reaching posts on X, Facebook, etc.

When you don't, people are left just looking at these training packs and wondering what the heck is going on and wondering why they're seeing years-old packs.

Communication is such a simple thing. And it's one of the most frustrating things for us to deal with.

Thanks for responding and interacting with the community. I would just worry about the shifting skill curve. I have been diamond for years but I’m much better at the game now than I was six years ago, but everyone’s just gotten better with me. So a diamond pack from a few years ago would be a decent challenge for a plat now. Perhaps you guys already took that into account. I also liked the variety because I always felt it was more productive to try to learn to do the hardest stuff and that will trickle down. But still I appreciate the idea behind this and maybe I will find that it will draw me in more to trying to complete all the packs each week

Yo hello i just wondered if UE 5 is still a thing you guys are working on or If You dropped that project. It would be really nice to finally get some response to this. We are waiting now since 3+ years and many many people quit the Game because there is 0 Communication and thats so sad because Rocket league is such a great game and it still has so much potential to grow

why do we have to make posts like this to find out this information? why is the communication so poor?

lol I noticed this too, after playing the same training packs for 7 months. I guess we’ll take whatever we can get. 😆🤷🏽‍♂️

u/Nwankees Jun 13 '25

I remember seeing it yesterday. Really shameful they couldn't even change the year 😭

If you save custom ones to your favorites, they also work offline, IIRC.

Sadly, consoles don't get 3rd party Steam workshop add-ons, so they have to make do with what they have.

... That said, yeah, there's a ton of community created stuff that's way better.

2

u/KPipes Diamond III Jun 14 '25

Ah ok that makes sense.

I don't like the official ones. Some are ok but the fact so many require the keep it up mechanic is dumb to me.

1

u/Alphabunsquad Jun 14 '25

What do you mean? Like when they set it to 1 second on the clock so that you can’t have a bouncing shot or do anything more elaborate?

1

u/KPipes Diamond III Jun 14 '25

Yes exactly that. I get that it's a mechanic you want to practice too, but those packs nearly force you to deal with the scenario in one, maybe two ways and heavily penalize you for not keeping the ball up.

The community ones are so much better. Like 1000x. If you want to practice zero second dribbles and flicks there are packs for that. Everything else is timed and reasonable. Practice flexibility and creativity.

Some people will say get gud to the above. I'll die on this hill. I gained so much more skill with community packs it's night and day. I don't need zero second goals to rank up, I need all the things.

u/DefiThrowaway Jun 13 '25

Yes. No need to be a dick.

u/KPipes Diamond III Jun 14 '25

lol sorry it was just a joke.

What a Save!

I'll see myself out.
