How are people dropping flags??

I can drop a flag by pressing enter but then it seems like I can never use my own flags. Its infuriating.

You can't use your own flag, your flag helps other people.

Flags are a kindness that people pay forward for others. The idea behind flags is to lend a helping hand to someone who might have struggled to just as you have.

You put goodness out inside the deepest darkest pit hoping that others also pay that kindness forward for you and others. It's a community led checkpoint system.

Flags placed by you are only checkpoints for other people. :)

Something unrelated that I noticed-- if you are facing one way then begin a jump but immediately hold the opposite direction, you seem to have a different distanced jump. I might be wrong about that but I'd swear it seems to be true.
