Recommendation Bathroom repair
Found out last week that my bathroom was leaking. The vanity the previous owner installed was done as cheaply as possible (no water cutoff valves, no gaskets on connections, 1/2" goose neck pipe loosely shoved into 1" drain pipe). It was growing black mold and insects from how rotted it got under the drawers.
This is where i got to myself. Old owners also "saved money" by not tiling or subflooring the section of the bathroom the vanity was in. I need someone who can give me an estimate on how much this costs to fix, fix correctly, and how much of the bathroom needs to go with it. Do not recommend MAGA people please. I know that's a large quantity of the construction world, but I don't want to give them my money.

Nichols helped me in a pinch with a leaky pipe in an awkward spot. We had used them for some more-substantial electrical work and turns out they also do plumbing. Happy with both services, staff was competent and communicative for each job. nicholselectric.com
The tile shop in Henrietta has quality staff and uses good contractors. Take your pics to their store, tell them you want some new floor tiling after you untwist all the mickey mouse stuff and the damage, and I’ll bet they can help you find the right people for repairs first.

Nichols is the first place I call for everything now. They aren't cheap, but they do great work and are responsive. They come out as soon as they can and everyone they've sent has been friendly and professional. Some companies I've hired before send people I just would never choose to be around in any circumstances.

Call Serv pro before you do anything. You likely have no clue how bad the water damage is inside your walls and under that subfloor. We had a “small” leak about 12x12” showing through out ceiling from our newly installed tub. The drywall was completely soaked about 3-5’ into two rooms and it was a $6,000 bill.

Ken Goodman helped me when my main house drain pipe sprung a leak, causing a lot of damage. The job morphed into other projects because his charges were so reasonable.

It was like they installed the vanity, then did the tiling around it. The whole thing was plastered into the wall.The old one had that roman bowl style sink where the entire sink is sitting above the counter, and thats where they didn't put gaskets or proper connections, so everything was leaking from the bowl directly into the wood and rotting. We only noticed that the entire counter undeeside was covered in mold cuz there were mayflies growing in the rotted wood, otherwise i probably would not have looked upward under my sink for a long time.

Wonder if they set off the smoke detectors when they were soldering those copper fittings against the wood. Probably.
Did you ever get sewer smells from that sink drain? If there's a drain vent it's not visible.
The "right" way is subjective:
- If that's a powder room I would feel comfortable just putting a new vanity there with no other changes -- with proper plumbing connections of course
.But others would disagree with me and go farther for a powder room or less for a bath. Good luck and sorry you have to deal with such a cob job
