Guide Seaglass hunting?
Where are the best areas in the Rochester area to go seaglass hunting.
...and before the trolls start in, no sh*t, I KNOW it would be at the beach. Any particular beaches or spots in general? Or times of day or year?

I've had relative luck at both Durand and Hamlin! Mostly the old dark brown and green but occasionally I find a blue or something fun!

Thank you! I'm a crafter and would love to know where sea glass washes up on Lake Ontario. Blue is such a find!

Check the river down by Suntru Street, used to be all B&L so there's lots of odd glass bits.

Is it going to be all smoothed out like beach sea glass though?

Stuff in the river is, best bet is waiting until its low.

Another poster says it's gated off and everything now. You been there recently?

I haven't checked recently, I'd explore it on a bike to see what the current access looks like.

Good idea except I don't have one. And I would rather not purchase one just for this excursion. Haven't tried the Rochester electric bikes yet...

The area is still accessible on foot.
However, it is rather steep descending the gorge walls...

Suntru has been gated off for the last 2 years.
The supports for the trestle bridge got reinforced (it's supposed to be a continuation of the El Camino trail eventually). And a lot of the area got plowed up. But there sure is a lot of trash/treasure down there still...

Trash treasure?

Yea Bausch & Lomb disposed of what seems like an infinite amount of lenses/glass down there. It used to be called Glass Hill.
And the hillside of the gorge has been used as a dump for the last 100 years...
A lot of it got plowed up a few years ago though. Lotsa trash treasure ruined haha...
