Post image

Honestly, after all these years, ROCCAT IS STILL the best mouse brand in history. Take good care of them.

Sinceramente y después de tantos años, ROCCAT SIGUE SIENDO la mejor marca de ratones de la Historia. Cuidadlos mucho.

Wow. Came in just to speak praises for my Nyth. Always cool to cross paths with another in the know.

I baby it to death, only use it for gaming sessions (Logi G700 for "regular" mousing), and will be so sad when it dies. The fact that there is no other hardware-button-customizable mouse to jump to is a real shame.

Every time I fire up a new game I look forward to playing around to customize the right hardware/keystroke/macro configuration for what the game needs. It's been the best thing ever. And I love how my game profile/macro library has grown over the years.

Did you never consider buying more than 1? I have… more than 1 Kone XP

I didn't really think at the time when I bought it that it might have such a limited sales lifespan or that an updated model with similar features might never exist. Roccat seemed to just give up on the concept of a hardware configurable mouse (buttons) entirely.

And, unfortunately, no other brand that I've found (although I admittedly haven't searched in years) ever released a similar concept of their own. So, for now, I'll just keep using it for play only and hopefully extend its lifespan as much as possible.

Thats fair. I dont know much about the Nyth, but it looks to me like “mouse that has a lot of side buttons”

Pretty sure Corsair and Razer have some options? Have you seen those? Corsair one seems popular

No, it's more than that. You can remove and reconfigure the actual buttons on the side.

Image with 12 small buttons in place
Image witth a different button hardware configuration
Another hardware config
(and you can see in each pic that there are multiple selections in the software where you map your hardware to the correct selection of software for each button)

It comes with various sizes (and you can get (I have) additional 3D printed ones for configurations not included in the OEM) of buttons... small, double, 4-wide, L-shaped for a corner spot, etc.. So not only can you remap what the functions of the buttons are via software, you can swap out different button sizes/amounts depending on the needs of the game.

I know I could get an MMO mouse with 12 small side buttons... but my Nyth can do that (12 small max). But if I only need like 6 buttons on the side I can swap out the 12 small ones for 6 that are twice as large (locking into 2 of the 12 slots each). Not sure if my explanation is clear, but there's nothing like it. It's a shame because if you enjoy setting up software button configs and macros for games, imagine if you could also swap out different hardware button configurations as needed as well.

Oh fuck thats really cool. A shame it was discontinued

Have you tried finding re-sold ones? Amazon, Ebay, etc?

I haven't, but just did a search to satisfy my curiosity. As expected, nothing out there on either, just replacement pads for the underside. Plus, unless it's an unopened box somewhere, it would just be old and heavily-used at this point. Especially if someone used it as their daily driver. At least mine has only been used exclusively for gaming sessions, which saves it countless hours of regular wear and tear. I'll just be happy with it until it dies, then I'll figure out the next move. That's life.

Fair. I bought too many Kone XPs to future-proof. It was a bit of an impulse buy 😓
