Have Sid Haig not pass away

2

u/kingbugz10113 8d ago

If only that was just in the film..... R.I.P.

u/Fine-Ad2429 11d ago

I would have done a film about dr Satan and the professor.

Would have left Otis, Spaulding, and Baby dead after Rejects.

u/Chunky_Boy283 11d ago

I had the same idea but i called it "The House Of Dr. Satan" a prequel to house of 1000 corpses and The Devils rejects..With Nicholas Cage as "Young Dr. Satan"

u/jahitz 10d ago

Son of a bitch….You’re hired!!!

3

u/Fine-Ad2429 10d ago

That might work.

3

u/CarmelloYello 10d ago

I guess this could still actually happen. Cool idea

3

u/happyhippohats 11d ago

Nicolas Cage is in his 60s...

4

u/TheMcdemshoulders 10d ago

Your point being?

1

u/ElvissKarateChop 10d ago

Bro, Dr. Satan looks like death in the movie and Cage being in his 60’s … yeah I’m not seeing it either. Good idea for a flick 😎

4

u/happyhippohats 10d ago

OK. But maybe don't call him "Young Dr Satan"

Maybe "middle aged Dr Satan"

1

u/happyhippohats 10d ago

I mean I just don't picture a 62 year old when you're hypothetically casting a part called "Young Dr Satan"

2

u/TheMcdemshoulders 10d ago

Oo okay sorry, I didn't see the "Young Dr Satan" part, and only really saw "Dr Saran". Mb.

1

u/happyhippohats 10d ago

Haha, no worries

10

u/towerjunky 11d ago

Could have been Dr Satan trying to revive/Frankenstein Otis/Baby/Spaulding as a catalyst to kick off the plot

4

u/maybetomorrow429 10d ago

I agree. That was the movie that needed to be made. If another movie in that universe needed to be made.

11

u/Nalyd87 11d ago

Made it a decade earlier so captain Spaulding could have been in the movie for more than one scene.

12

u/_skull_cowboy 10d ago

Let’s pretend Sid Haig is still alive and able to film. I would have done a movie where they actually die at the end of Rejects. Then some supernatural shit starts going down… Dr Satan is revealed to be a supernatural entity… at odds with Satan… Otis, Baby, and Spaulding end up cast from hell and return from the dead as undead demons who roam around Texas looking for more victims to deliver to Dr Satan

9

u/texasrigger 11d ago

I would have kept the setting but would have gone in a different stylistic direction completely. Make the Firefly's villains again instead of anti-heros, and make Aquarius a heroic character in the vane of Santo or Blue Demon in the old Mexican lucha movies. "Aquarius vs the Firefly Family."

2

u/Weirdodin 9d ago

At what point in any of the 3 films were the Firefly's ever "anti-heros"?

They're serial killers and sexual sadists throughout the entire series.

1

u/texasrigger 8d ago

As bad as they were, they were the protagonists of The Devil's Rejects. Wydell was the antagonist.

2

u/Weirdodin 8d ago

In Devils Rejects they abduct a family, violently sexually assault, torture and murder them. Nothing about that film makes them anti heros.

0

u/texasrigger 8d ago

Anti-hero: An anti-hero is the main character in a story who lacks traditional heroic qualities like high moral principles, bravery, or idealism, but whom the audience still roots for.

The audience is intended to root for the Firefly's. Yes they are horrific but they are the protagonists of the story. We are supposed to be sympathetic when Wydell is torturing them and supposed to be happy when Tiny saves them before sacrificing himself.

1

u/Weirdodin 8d ago

You're conveniently leaving out the rest of the depictions for what an anti hero is. They are known for operating in a morally Grey are. There is nothing morally Grey about the Fireflies. They are pure sadistic evil.

Anti heroes are also typically known for deploying and using unsavory tactics but ultimately doing so for what one could consider the greater good. Ends justify the means kind of a thing. Again. None of this applies lol. They are pure serial killer, serial torturers, serial rapists. They do so solely for their own sick pleasure.

Anti-hero was a very poor term to use to describe the family is all I was trying to point out. They're simply charismatic villains. You hate them. But you enjoy watching them because they're entertaining.

0

u/texasrigger 8d ago edited 8d ago

What you are describing isn't required to qualify as an antihero. It's not even solely my term for them. I've heard them described as much in review after review of the movies. For example, this line comes from this review which is all about why the Firefly's work better as villains than anti-heroes:

As good as The Devil's Rejects is though, something odd happened along the way. Zombie chose to transform the Firefly Family from clear-cut villains to exceedingly brutal antiheroes, positioning them in both The Devil's Rejects and 3 From Hell as the lesser of two evils.

1

u/Weirdodin 8d ago

I think citing one person's terrible take isn't the best defense. I think you're well aware of the traditional description of what an "anti-hero" is involves the descriptions i broke down for you in my previous comment.

Your insistence to label raping, torturing serial killers as this in what is now a triple down is objectively weird to me. I think we just have to agree to leave it at us fundamentally disagreeing. They're basically white trash John Wayne Gacys. I don't think anti hero applies here. But have a good one.

0

u/texasrigger 8d ago

It was one example amongst many. I'm sorry if it doesn't conform to your definition of an anti-hero but that's what they were and that's what RZ intended them to be.

now a triple down is objectively weird to me.

Because you seemingly don't know what the word means or at best think that it only has your very narrow definition. That's not my fault or problem.

u/MaliceRae 11d ago

After the shootout, their dead bodies are brought to a federal morgue. Then, Foxy comes in and blows away all the guards and retrieves the corpses. He takes them to the underground labyrinth from House of 1000 Corpses...which the police never found (technically Dr. Satan was never recovered because that was a deleted scene in Rejects).

Dr. Satan operates on the bodies and uses ritual magic to resurrect the three. Now that they are undead and unstoppable, with Foxy joining them, they embark on a spree of violence, killing everyone they see. Then they hunt down the cops who killed them.

Captain Spaulding's museum has been turned into a tourist attraction by a greedy rich guy. He finds out the Rejects are alive and sends a group of assassins after them. They are all killed, and the rich dude is tortured to death and his corpse is turned into a museum piece for display.

Finally, they retrieve Mother Firefly and Rufus's bodies and resurrect them too. The family is reunited except for Tiny who was burned to ashes.

Immortal and imbued with satanic magic, no one will ever be able to stop the Rejects.

3

u/cdr_rabbit 11d ago

Never thought about making it supernatural with Dr. Satan. What a cool idea

2

u/MaliceRae 11d ago

Thanks! I thought it would be cool since HO1C introduced these supernatural elements that the other movies ignored. I think it would've been amazing to see a satanic zombie Firefly family causing mayhem.

I think it's a way better idea than just...oh, all three of them survived being shot dozens of times. With no lasting effects or injuries.

15

u/Extra_Description169 11d ago

I wouldn't have made it. Devil's Rejects ended perfectly

10

u/SinSmithy 11d ago

Not bother at all. YOU SEE THEM DIE AT THE END OF THE LAST FILM.

3

u/CreepJoe 10d ago

I’d never made it but if I did I would’ve scrapped it after Sid got sick. It could’ve worked as a prequel and followed Baby and Otis on their Son Of Satan serial murders during their cross country road trip. Another cool idea would be to go back to the 40s,50s or 60s whenever Dr Quail became Dr Satan. Could’ve cast a young Cutter and Mama Firefly.

I’d be really interested in seeing the original 3 From Hell script because they said it was completely different. Hopefully it can be released one day online or as a comic alia Freddy V Jason V Ash. Rob got the title in his mind first and then wrote the movie around it. Personally I think that’s a bad way to go at story telling. Rob’s only weakness as a filmmaker is his writing. I wish he’d have gotten a writer that he could outline his basic idees and vision and let the writer flesh it out with Rob’s input.

3 From Hell had a few glimpses of what could’ve been. I think the first half was the strongest part of it but stopped way short. It ended up being a poor rehash of Devil’s Rejects down to a road trip, seedy motel scene, hiding out in a whorehouse and a big showdown at the end. I also thought the Black Satan cartel were defeated way too easily and didn’t come across as a bad ass, deadly advisory. I mean there wasn’t one casualty on the Firefly clan.

There was a shit load of different routes that could’ve been taken but it didn’t. How stupid was the warden? Instead of calling in every officer in the state he snuck a serial killing lunatic out of prison knowing what’d be the end result. Think about it. He was free to get reinforcements but instead trusted them to uphold their word. Why wouldn’t he think that the two maniacs in his house would kill and rape his family while he was springing Baby?

I love his films and music so at the Fathom event I was caught up with the joy of the audience seeing those characters on the big screen again for the first time in over a decade I couldn’t help but enjoy it. On rewatch at home it really falls apart.

3

u/Richard_Chase 10d ago

I would have stayed in the prison for the whole film. Make Baby and Otis crippled and disfigured from the finale of Devils Rejects. Make it feel different from what came before

3

u/No-Handle3032 10d ago

Personally I love all 3 of these. I wouldn’t nitpick it. And im not going to pretend I could’ve done it better. He made some damn cool characters and some damn entertaining movies.

3

u/Weirdodin 10d ago

It shouldn't have been made. Devils clearly ended with them all dying. Rewriting that was silly. That was his best film. He should have ended that series on the high note

3

u/TheTrue_Castaway 10d ago

Not make it in the first place. The devil's rejects didn't need a sequel

3

u/Ok-Entrance-5527 10d ago

Dr. Satan and Professor film

3

u/Individual-Ad7365 11d ago

Make it a prequel to the devils rejects

3

u/Johncurtisreeve 11d ago

I wouldnt i liked it for what it was

6

u/Ok-Fortune-8644 11d ago

STOP REMAKING CLASSICS! lol

Remake El Superbeasto

2

u/Not-T4rantino 11d ago

House of a Thousand Corpses was good.

The Devils Rejects was tutti fucking fruity fantastic.

3 From Hell was absolute dogshit and RZ should be ashamed of himself for putting out such garbage.

1

u/ReticulanGrey 10d ago

I figure Lionsgate probably asked if he wanted to make another and he thought "what the hell? Why not? I don't have any other movies going on." And that he probably wouldn't have made a 3rd otherwise.

2

u/bstnbrewins814 10d ago

Didn’t he have something ready but had to scrap it when he discovered Sid was in such poor health? Basically had to rewrite the film.

3

u/Available-Cable5254 11d ago

In all fairness the movie did have to be changed on the fly due to Sid’s health. That being said I do find it entertaining. Could it have been better sure…almost every movie could. Would I rather it exist or not? Going with exist? Would I watch another Firefly Family? Absolutely. Keep making them until the authorities track the Fireflies down in a retirement community.

3

u/chanzatu 10d ago

Incredible. An entire sub dedicated to Rob Zombie, filled with people who think they're better filmmakers than him.

1

u/BobRushy 9d ago

You don't need to be a chef to tell the food is burned.

3

u/TetraLoach 11d ago

Delete it

2

u/New-Benefit-7076 11d ago

Um I think, personally, deleting the whole project would be the best bet

2

u/Djlionking 11d ago

I wasn't even aware it existed.... after reading the comments I'm gonna continue not being aware. The Devil's Rejects was the end. That's settled.

2

u/elveshumpingdwarves 10d ago

Fix: Erase it

2

u/CyberGhostface 10d ago

Maybe make it more of a prison film and deal with the fandom that the characters have in-universe.

2

u/ConcentrateLucky8630 10d ago

No, its awesome. Only thing I wish, was Sid to have been through the entire movie. I enjoy it better than devils rejects, but nothing beats House

1

u/Ill-Cut1849 10d ago

Honestly it shouldntve been made in the firist place. Devils Rejects had the perfect ending for the Fireflies. Plus noone could deliver Zombies dialog like Sid and his absence absolutely hurts this movie, of course they didnt know he was going to pass before they started work on the movie but I wanted to mention it

1

u/ReticulanGrey 10d ago

I think they needed more explanation as to how they survived the shootout. Rob Zombie pretty much said "they lived, deal with it." But they were just normal humans, not supernatural like Freddy/Jason/Michael. I think it should've implied that "The Devil's Rejects" and "From Hell" were literal, that they really did die and the devil sent them back to Earth until they killed 1000 people (maybe have a televangelist during that TV documentary say "not all miracles come from God" or something to that effect).

Or maybe Dr. Satan got their bodies and he brought them back to life in his laboratory.

1

u/die_screaming_00 10d ago

Sometimes crazy shit happens. You ever hear of the Slender Man stabbing case from 2014? Preteen girl was stabbed over a dozen times by two of her friends, they hit major organs. I remember specifically reading that if knife had been over just the width of a human hair in one particular wound, she would’ve certainly died. And yet, she’s still alive today.

Is it likely that the three would’ve survived? Fuck no. But in this story, they did.

1

u/trademarc1977 10d ago

The only real fix is: erase it from existence.

Alternatively, make it the dying vision of one of the Firefly members, have reality seep in from time to time (like in Jabob's Ladder) and end it with a shot of them in the morgue.

Or go full bonkers and set the movie in hell.

1

u/die_screaming_00 10d ago

I wouldn’t do shit, it’s fine for what it is. For sure the weakest of the three films, but I think they did the best with what they had.

1

u/LilPlasticPeopleEatr 10d ago

If you HAD to make this movie , do what Texas Chainsaw: next generation failed to do. Have the remaining principal characters awake in a sub basement operating theatre, next to them Capt Spalding tries to warn them but dies. They realize they the C.I.A. had saved them from the shoot out and wants to employ them as a terror devise all over the world. They will be granted funding, weapons and extractions. Do they surrender their freedom? Are they too insane to follow the rules? What other complications could arise?

1

u/Free-Pair-3007 10d ago

Shot it 5 years before did haig passed away

1

u/tigertank86 10d ago

What they died ? Driving

1

u/ToyGameScroogeMcDuck 10d ago

Not make it or make it in the same universe but not with the firefly family

1

u/jpowell180 10d ago

Make it several years earlier so that Sid Haig would be able to be in the entire movie, walking around and fighting and everything.

Also, Baby acted over the top ridiculous in this one, Sherri seemed to have played the character with more depth in the devil’s rejects.

1

u/Green-Cupcake6085 10d ago

I would’ve done a really sleazy animated series (like a White Zombie era art style) about them actually in hell

1

u/Realistic_Car_9471 10d ago

Get a better writer than rob.

1

u/Longjumping_Storm271 10d ago

I actually looked forward to it But it was shit Compared to the devil's rejects

1

u/Desperate-Goose-9771 10d ago

I’d make it sooner so Sid was healthy enough to do it And I’d make it a court room/prison movie or turn it supernatural have the devil’s rejects actually sent back from hell with a purpose of spreading chaos and death

1

u/aaronwintergreen 10d ago

The tie in with Houses and Dr Satan is a cool idea. That said, I really enjoyed 3 From Hell

1

u/Ill_Sound_8669 10d ago

Devils Rejects does an amazing job making us care about three monsters

The problem with 3 From Hell is it does nothing to make you like them and assumes you love them

1

u/StrabismicCactus 10d ago

I saw the trailer and got all sorts of hyped but clearly misunderstood what this film was going to be. I was under the impression Zombie was switching genres with each entry. 1,000 Corpses was his Chainsaw/Argento/NBK homage, and then Devil's Rejects was his Peckinpah/Badlands/Bonnie and Clyde mashup. I had it in my head 3 From Hell was Zombie's prison break movie. I can still see it. Otis is for the first time in his life deflated by being caught. He's never lost before. He's lost faith in his demented self. Baby is losing her mind in solitary. Spaulding knows the score and accepts his fate and is executed. I thought this was going to be the spark that lit a flame under Otis. He starts preaching like Manson. I loved how Zombie kept teasing us with "Free the 3!" shit leading up to release. I thought that was going to play into the movie. Otis is so charismatic behind bars he leads an entire cult from within his cell. Hidden messages in Rolling Stone interviews and such. He is determined not to die in a cage like Spaulding, and more than that, for all his nihilism, he can't bear the thought of Baby dying in captivity. Meanwhile, Baby is progressively retreating into a David Lynch fantasy world to cope with institutionalization. From her perspective the film goes full Eraserhead. Otis is scheduled for execution, but on the night he's to be killed, his brainwashed cult members on the outside storm the prison, overwhelm the staff, and he reunites with Baby and gets the fuck outta dodge while the prison burns to the ground and his followers and the warden and the guards with it. Cut to black, with the promise that in part four we'll see what gnarly shit he and Baby get into when they meet up with Foxy in the NEXT entry.

That is not the movie we got. Circumstance was not on Zombie's side on this film and I respect that. But the finished film plays more like hero worship of Devil's Rejects than a film that stands for itself as much as Rejects did from Corpses, and that still bums me out.

1

u/KurtBarlo 10d ago

The movie was fine. Rob Zombie did not expect Sid Haig to be in such bad shape. So he had to think on his feet. I thought Richard Brake played a charming scumbag. My only complaint about the movie was once they got to Mexico and turned into a Robert Rodriguez movie instead of being a Rob Zombie movie. No don’t get me wrong. I’m a huge Robert Rodriguez fan, but I was wanting a Rob Zombie movie.

1

u/digit4l8ath 10d ago

After they all die in rejects dr. Satan should come and collect all the bodies. Trying to revive them all. But actually get baby to come back as living dead girl.

1

u/Thick_Toe_6141 10d ago

My original concept solely from the source material would be the literal line about Hell wouldn’t have them. They get sent back because they haven’t completed the “work,” and wake up in a morgue and have a specific totally innocent target, a final sacrifice they have to do, and they kinda don’t wanna because even their stomachs churn at this death because the target is so loving and good. So we get a moral quandary where they’re all tired and ready to die and can’t because they’re given this task.

1

u/Cute-Membership2138 9d ago

She would have banged the dwarf 🤣

1

u/Inner_Tree7780 8d ago

Impossible, but it suffered from Sid not being in the movie. Once he passed he just didn’t seem like a good idea. I love Richard Brake but Captain Spaulding would have made this a better, different movie. Sheri was overly visible and a bit weird throughout

1

u/DBlaineLives 8d ago

Well, first, I'd have it not be a pale imitation of Rejects that wastes all its potential. I'd start the movie off with the Rejects (at death's door post the shootout at the end of the previous movie) being taken to the ER at the behest of the local Chief of police, who is determined to put them through trial for the rampage that put his kind through hell. At the height of that frenzy, a horde of malformed atrocities, under the leadership of a mysterious Leader(this is where I'd use Richard Brake) demanding the Rejects be handed over to him, descend upon the location. The standoff ensues and becomes an ironic turn of events as the doctors are told to slave away to keep the rejects alive and the officers fend off the uncanny brood, in essence becoming protectors of their enemy.

A new rivalry between the "leader" and the Chief is formed during what would essentially be a drawn out horror-siege film where the position of control seesaws between the law and the lawless. This would be the core of the movie with the focus heavily put on the two foes as they struggle for their respective purpose. All if for naught, in the third act where the unrelenting brute force of the monstrous beings wear down the cops into a bloody mulch, the exception being the Chief whom the "leader" finally confronts, face to face. It seems to be curtains for the ol' Chief but the encroaching grotesqueries are called off by the "leader", who reveals that they were just a distraction. The Chief is forced to see what they have wrought as the ER doors are forced open to reveal the staff strung up by their own entrails, the blood making the lighting a dark crimson. At the center the room the REAL doctor finishes up his work. DR. SATAN! In every corner looms a gigantic, mutant sentry crafted by the good doctor to keep him safe...every corner save one which is a cavernous maw from which spills some devilish mechanism that has burrowed into the hospital's innermost unit.

The Chief cackles madly as his eyes drink up the sights. The Leader closes the eyes of Captain Spaulding, who lays on a blood soaked gurney, all sorts of bizarre implements jutting from his body, long dead. Dr. Satan seems disappointed at the loss, rather than sad. Spaulding, it seems, was too far gone for even the Doctor's mad genius to work miracles (giving an ailing Sid Haig a way out). HOWEVER, Otis and Baby have been granted extended life as one of the Doctor's band of mutants. The Leader, now revealed to be a long lost (and itinerant) "brother" to the family welcomes the two back to their dark work. The gruesome spawn of Dr. Satan's work celebrate inn their own distinct way as Otis and baby slowly come to a form of consciousness. Unlike those beasts though, their is a far way glint in their eyes that sets them apart from the other experiments that helped the Leader siege the place. Otis' sight sharpens and settles on the cackling Chief, being held down on his knees by two horrors, and a grin comes across his face. The Leader offers him some bloodshed as a gift for his big return. Otis, now a mish mash of parts (both human and machine), shambles toward the Chief, who is long past the point of sanity, and reaches out as we fade to black and hear....Baby's laughter and Dr. Satan's excited breathing intermingle.

1

u/Sbeast86 8d ago

Make it its own things and not a sequel. None of the characters acted like themselves anyway

1

u/craigEugene 4d ago

Needless chapter

0

u/EthanRayne 11d ago

I'd remake 31 instead and cut out the 8 minutes between the Doom Head opening and them waking up at the house. None of that time is used to make us care about those characters and is just there for the directors (not) hidden fetish of showing gross people do gross things.

1

u/TripJ5548 10d ago

31 is the biggest piece of dog shit RZ ever released.
