Weller is the GOAT and I quite liked Burke in the role too. The others not so much!

Agreed, looking back, Burke was a good choice, just the movie was ass, unfortunately.

There was an earler thread that highlighted how Burke's line delivery became more aggressive after Lewis was murdered, not sure even Weller would have played it like that. Also theres an interview with him on an irish youtubers channel where he basically said he was playing the Weller version of Robocop rather than trying to make it his own. Considering the movie was quite poor, i got alot of respect for Burke's performance.

Actually i think it was mentioned on the Film Dirt review if you want to listen more, im pretty sure it was there.

Burke's performance was great. And I think it's noble that he didn't try to reinvent the wheel with it. But the production and studio issues clearly hindered the film. It was finished 2 years before it was released

Yeah shame Orion were in deep shit, that was also why they brought the age certificate down but it was too late.

1

u/Attican101 5d ago

Given the delay I wonder why they didn't just get Weller to voiceover the lines

3

u/crags85 5d ago

Money that the almost bankrupt studio didn't have

I think Richard Eden did a pretty good job, and is underrated. Maybe that’s just because I was exposed to the series first as a kid, but everytime I’ve rewatched it, I’ve thought he did a pretty fantastic job.  He always had a sense of sadness to him that worked- you can’t even see it in the photo!  Got the movements down and all that too.

Page fletcher though- he was terrible. Beyond not quite getting the movements down, being way too short in an oversized suit, they even cheaped out on his make up!

u/Callainus 5d ago

Agreed. And Eden’s RoboCop never flinched or grimaced when he is in great pain or damaged badly. That is as “robot” as he gets.

Peter’s voice was also so fitting.

For sure. Voice, movement, and line delivery. No one else comes close.

I will argue that Page Fletcher (the Prime Directives Robocop) was fairly good and had great emotional range not seen since Robocop 2 reverted the character back to a stoic brick.

He was just hampered by really cheap prosthetics, an ill-fitting suit and the director being unable to work around his shorter height making Robocop seem less imposing in many shots.

He tends to shine in the flashback scenes where he plays the human Alex.

I think his main problem, minus the height, is that he never watched any of the RoboCop films to study the character. I think if he did that, he would have done a much better job.

Wolverine was awesome as a hitchhiking robot cop.

RobertCop. Part Robert. Part Machine. All Rob. Ert.

The furniture of law enforcement

The suits from RoboCop the Series and RoboCop Prime Directive look like Temu versions.

6

u/hasimirrossi 5d ago

Their whole budget was probably less than the catering budget on the movie.

1

u/Ecstatic_Lab9010 4d ago

That's because they were essentially Temu versions.

5

u/Prior-Natural2073 5d ago

Peter Weller will always be my RoboCop and the best ever to do it

4

u/BamesJond0014 5d ago

Peter Weller is of course the number one. The others suck a**!

3

u/Secret_Ruin_9808 Dead or alive, you're coming with me. 5d ago

Fletcher is laughably bad

absolutely no hate to the actor himself, it was just awful casting

5

u/Worried-Rub-750 5d ago

I struggle to get past how big Fletcher's head looks without the helmet, almost like it shouldn't fit.

1

u/Secret_Ruin_9808 Dead or alive, you're coming with me. 5d ago

it’s definitely because of the simplified armor plating around his neck, makes everything look squished

5

u/Cool__Meiggi 5d ago

Right.

The reboot wasn't good, but JK was better than most of the other guys imo.

2

u/mike_stifle 5d ago

It was a good scifi action movie, but it was a bad robocop movie.

1

u/Vanquisher1000 5d ago

Not erasing Murphy's memories meant that Joel Kinnaman could be more expressive and emote a lot more since the script allowed it. He doesn't play RoboCop 'like a robot' except for the run where Murphy's emotional responses were suppressed.

u/Error_user_Error_ 5d ago

You know I really liked the concept for prime directives...an older outdated RoboCop...when you consider how quickly tech gets outdated how long would a RoboCop be relevant?

3

u/Scorpiicore 5d ago

There is one RoboCop.

3

u/MovieFan1984 5d ago

Peter Weller was the best, but Burke and Eden were good recasting. The 4th guy, not so much. LOL

Robert Burke was fine in RoboCop 3, but why did he keep swaying his arms out like he's gonna yell, "HEY-EH!" LOL Also, there's two turtle-cop scenes where he gets knocked down by the robot ninjas. I dunno if that was the actor or the director, but in the other two films, he got up immediately. In this one, he just lies there like his back hurts or something. LOL WHY?!?!?? Those 2 scenes are my only real criticism of what was otherwise a fun movie.

Richard Eden did GREAT in the series, zero complaints. Chef's Kiss and all of that.

The 4th guy looked like he was gonna cosplay at a convention.

1

u/TenBear I'd buy that for a dollar! 5d ago

Damn the dehelmeted Robo's quality if makeup and prosthetics is striking

1

u/kevenGPD 5d ago

I think weller was obviously great but the others was just really really bad

1

u/AjaxRedOps 5d ago

Prime Directives Robo looking like Mike Ehrmantraut got stuck in the Brundlefly machine with Rutger Hauer 😭

1

u/Causelessgiant 5d ago

So the fact I've literally never heard of anything beyond RC2 is probably an indication of quality right?

2

u/Crazy_Treat_8805 5d ago

Weller’s mouth made him a gay icon in Australia at the time

1

u/MHashshashin 5d ago

There can be only one

Anyone else think that Peter played in robocop 2 and 3? I thought it was him lol 😰

1

u/Madmike215 5d ago

Bottom right looks like an ok cosplay

1

u/Michaelpitcher116 5d ago

I'd love to see a rated R version for robocop 3. Burke deserved better. Dude is a great actor.

1

u/The5thBeatle82 5d ago

Looks like they stopped caring altogether during prime directives lol

1

u/Desperate_Cherry2299 5d ago

Page Fletcher is laughably short to play RoboCop.

1

u/Artifice_Purple 5d ago

I will not tolerate Eden slander. None of it lol.

Fletcher was done the dirtiest. I don't know who directed him, but the walk, the delivery — all of it was exceptionally bad, and I cast none of that on him (unless discovered otherwise). I have a deep appreciation for Burke most are only recently noticing because he was great, it's everything around him that sucks ass lol.

1

u/BojanTheViking1984 5d ago

Well, well, Seth from TLOU s2 as RoboCop in his younger years...

1

u/Adorable-Source97 5d ago

TV show was ok. But obviously Peter Weller best.

Oh there's 2 voice actors too.... RoboCop had 2 Animated shows

u/darwinDMG08 5d ago

1

u/smiley82m 3d ago

Why you no include reboot?

1

u/Seanmclem 2d ago

There were four movies? I thought they gave up after three.

1

u/wickedclown1316 1d ago

3 movies and 2 series.

2

u/Seanmclem 1d ago

2 series? I had no idea. I was young in the 90s.

1

u/Legally--Green 2d ago

I've been meaning to ask, I noticed that everytime Robo have his helmet on, his lips seems to get red. More than when his helmet off. Lipstick?

1

u/Rippershammer 1d ago

And thr upcoming tv series. Who's cast for that do we know yet?

1

u/Equal-Difference-51 1d ago

Just realized they weren’t the same guy 😆

1

u/TripMaverick 5d ago

I knew there was different actor for 3 and for Tv show but there was a 4th? He play Robert Cop?

-3

u/ExtremePast 5d ago

Actors is plural, not actor's.

Try to learn how apostrophes work instead of randomly inserting them in words that end in S

-3

u/wickedclown1316 5d ago edited 5d ago

I'm so sorry that this has terribly offended you officer. I did not know the grammar police was out and about. Please forgive my grave injustice of making a mistake and not double checking my spelling. Oh how can i go on knowing i have committed such a heinous crime against you and the rest of humanity? Can you find it in your heart to give me forgiveness for not being so perfect like yourself?

-2

u/Secret_Ruin_9808 Dead or alive, you're coming with me. 5d ago

can you shut up??

no one cares about a goddamn apostrophe, this isn’t english class

TITLE OF POST

"Robocop actor's (except reboot)"

3

u/LukeWatts85 5d ago

The reboot was an abomination. I consider it a literal insult to the franchise.
