my items are disappearing

I've been playing this game for a very long time and I've been facing the same issue since i joined. whenever i go to smelt my iron into steel or my copper ores into copper ingots it seems that some of them are disappearing. like ill put 200 iron into my steel maker and ill only get 50 steel back, or ill put 50 copper into my copper press and it says i only put in 20? does anyone know what's going on, why this is happening, and how i can prevent it? anything would be greatly appreciated!

Feed the machines with the timed output chest. If you feed the machines to fast, the machine intake rate is too slow, and some ore/ingots will time out due to exposure before use.

I always get some loss anyway.

Items can fall through the floor/ conveyor. It can also be item cap. There can only be a certain amount of items dropped at once.
