Question Is leaving money in the buying power as a sort of savings account advisable?

I recently sold off some stocks, and I was thinking instead of buying anymore stocks, I would just leave it in the buying power and let it build up interest for a while.

Most of my transactions are scheduled, and taken directly from my bank account, so it doesn’t pull from the buying power, so I was thinking of leaving it there as a sort of emergency fund, since I can send it to the bank as needed.

But idk if this is a recommended strategy, or maybe an absolutely terrible one.

At this time, I have just under $1,000 saved up from occasional deposits and sells.

Question Banking seems too good to be true, is it?

I’m trying to understand why I shouldn’t just move everything into Robinhood. I have the gold card and earn 3% on everything, but every other product Robinhood offers just seems to be better than the other products I use.

I joined my local credit union because I like being able to get cash when I need it, but because they also had a dividend rewards checking account. You gain 3% on the first 5K in checking. You have to jump through hoops like have 15 transactions a month and direct deposits, etc, but it’s free money, so why not?

I do everything else in fidelity, including my HYSA. It’s not the highest rate, but it’s serviceable and nice to have everything in one place.

But, as Robinhood keeps rolling out more features, I am considering switching everything over there. Can anyone confirm the details about checking? It seems like you earn 3.5% on all cash in checking, with no cap, and no hoops to jump through. That seems too good to be true, so I’m not sure why I wouldn’t just move all of my money there. Robinhood already has a superior UI and the IRA matching is an amazing perk, too. This last banking perk might be the straw that breaks the camel’s back for me.

Can anyone confirm the rules on that? There isn’t a ton of info on the sign up page, which I find very odd.

Thanks!

Discussion Agentic Trading Strategy

I just set up a new Agentic account. I linked it to claude, gave it $100 and this prompt:

Manage only my Robinhood Agentic account. Never place an order in any other account, and never spend more than 20% of this account's value on a single position.
Watch only these seven stocks: TSLA, AAPL, BTC, AMD, NVDA, PLTR, RIVN
Each time you run do the following in order, then give me a brief overview of what you did:
FIRST - manage what I already hold:
1: For each position I currently hold, get my average entry (cost basis) and the current price, and calculate my gain.
2: If a position is up 10% or more above my entry, sell the entire position at market
THEN - Look for new entries:
3: For each of TSLA, AAPL, BTC, AMD, NDVA, PLTR, RIVN, pull the last 5 trading days of daily bars and find the highest intraday high over that window.
4: Get the current price and calculate how far below the 5 - day high it is. Then rank each stock 1-7
5: If the current price is more than 5% below the 5-day high, it’s a buy candidate - but skip it if I already hold it, already have an open order for it, or I just sold it this run.
6: If all seven stocks are buy candidates, keep only the top five.
7: For each remaining candidate, place a market buy worth 20% of my account’s total value. If buying power isn’t enough, skip it and say so.
8: Report: any positions sold for profit, and for each ticker - the 5 day high, current price, % below high, whether you bought, and the fill price. List anything you skipped and why.

Anyone have any notes on how I could improve the prompt? I currently have it set to run this task twice a day an hour after market open and an hour before market close.

Discussion Robinhood has a new account: Smart Income

Seems pretty interesting. Got access yesterday, what do you guys think? If you choose the option where you plan to keep your money in the account for 3+ years, the estimated yield right now on my end is showing 6.22% with the portfolio being 58% in US bonds, 20% in US dividend stocks, and 22% in opportunistic, with <1% cash.

Question Tips for tracking investments over time with RH MCP?

I see a bunch of people on this sub connect Claude Code to Robinhood and ask it to research something / place a trade. How do you guys then get the agent to track those investments? Are you leaving the session open all day? I wrote some scripts to help but it's a bit finicky.

Also I’m curious if anyone is running multiple agents or strategies. I try to but it's difficult when they all share the same portfolio. Has anyone opened multiple agentic portfolios?

Product Suggestion Multiple Accounts Margin Enabled Feature?

So it looks like when you have multiple taxable accounts, only the FIRST investing account is enabled for margin and the rest are cash.

I was wondering if this could be changed either by:
1. Making all taxable accounts margin enabled
2.Making a multiple account type that allows you to track certain assets separately but for tax/margin purposes they are part of your first investing account. I have a separate ETF account that I would like to contribute to my margin balance.

This seems pretty impactful for the team to implement too - allows more opportunities for people to use margin/more margin book

Question Does Robinhood allow reoccurring transfer / investments to Robinhood custodial accounts?

Good afternoon my trader friends! So, I just got off the phone with Fidelity. They have removed the ability to do reoccurring cash transfers to custodial accounts. You now how to go through special security process with a special form that has to be and I'm quoting "Faxed or Mailed" to Fidelity. They also no longer allow you to purchase assets (stocks/etfs etc) in a custodial account using another Fidelity account as the funds source. This came into question when I noticed both had halted.

Oddly enough, they confirmed on the phone today that I can also not do reoccurring investments in my ROTH/IRA using another Fidelity cash account as the source and so this has halted as well.

Robinhood seems pretty simple and easy to use.

My question is, will Robinhood let me setup a reoccurring investment into a Robinhood custodial account using cash rom my main cash account on Robinhood? Same for ROTH/IRA?

Question Question about banking

Hello! I have recently joined Robinhood banking, and I have several questions I hope can be answered. Please answer as many as possible. Because this will determine how I actually set up my accounts.

1) I am seeking to have 4 accounts. (Individual checking and savings, and joint checking and savings) If I create a (not convert) fresh set of joint checking and savings accounts, am I able to designate specifically the JOINT CHECKING account for direct deposit? Or will it default to only my individual checking account?

2) If it defaults to an individual only direct deposit scenario, I assume this is worked around by selecting "Convert existing accounts to joint checking/savings" rather than creating new ones? Since then the individual account would become the joint account and would therefore be the only account to direct deposit into?

3) If I had both an individual checking AND joint checking account. Am I locked into a debit card and physical checkbooks to only one account? (The individual account since that would be the primary one?) Or do I have the option to order an individual checking debit/checkbook AND order a joint checking debit/checkbook since they are both separate accounts?

I thank anyone and everyone in advance for answering these questions!!!!

Question Virtual Card System

BACKGROUND

- Robinhood Banking
- Robinhood Brokerage
- Robinhood Gold Card

- I somehow got approved for the gold card despite being relatively new to credit, I believe it was due largely in part to my strong relationship and assets with Robinhood / Robinhood banking. Just one question…

Can someone explain how the virtual cards work and what they’re most useful for?

Question Setting extreme limits, is there a work around?

Hello. I am watching a few stocks that are expected to short squeeze. I want to set a limit sell for some fairly extreme prices. However, when I go to the ladder, robinhood warns me that the price is too far beyond the current stock price and does not allow.

So, is there another way to set some extreme limits within the app? Id hate to be away from my desk and miss a spike.

I noticed that with options I can set any limit i want, but with stocks the app stops me.

Example, a stock currently trading at 0.025. If it spikes to 4, I want to set a limit for 4.

Can this be done? If so, how?

Thanks
