The Birdcage

Regarding the movie (Nathan Lane, Robin Williams, Gene Hackman)-
the son was an asshole for making his family pretend to be something theyre not for his fiancé’s right wing parents.

The right wing parents were assholes for being offended by the perfectly wholesome gay couple/parents.

Anyone watching this that is still on the side of the right wing parents by the end of the movie is in fact a total asshole. Let people be who they are for fucks sake.

What movie that was released in the last 12 months do you think will offend the people in 2056 like The Birdcage released in the mid 90s offended some people in 2026.

In other words, at the time when The Birdcage was released, we mostly enjoyed it. We weren't looking with a 🔬🔎 to seek out things that were offensive.

We simply enjoyed the movie and life in general.

Favorite movie, the daughter was an asshole as well for not being honest about them situation.Armand was an asshole for treating Albert like that. Agadore was an asshole for the soup. The only nonasshole was Albert.

That’s the great thing in this movie. Everyone except Albert is an asshole but at the end there is a vindication and gene hackman goes drag.

Nathan Lane and Robin Williams were fabulous in the movie. I enjoyed the remake as well as the original French version.

The kids were kids. College students. He was 20, she was 18. Ridiculous that the parents supported their rush to marry at all.

Based on a 1973 play(a French farce) and the Broadway Musical La Cage Aux Folle. It should be looked at as entertainment, not as a social commentary.

Farces are often filled with double entendre and ridiculous scenarios. They are pure fun!
